    • The Perfect Sticks?
I bought these knowing I loved how light the Sugar Maple drumsticks were. I was worried after the Sugar Maple 5As broke within 10 minutes of using them, but these are definitely more durable. I'm surprised every day by how well they hold up. They're a little heavier than the 5As, but not much. It doesn't limit by ability to play fast fills and move around the toms, which is great. The tip is a spherical tip, which is now my favorite type of tip. It is even more durable than barrel tips (which my Fatback 3As had). Essentially, these sticks are light yet somehow very durable, I have not broken a pair yet. I'm amazed with every hit that they're still unharmed, and that the tip is not worn at all. I'm loving these sticks most of all because they let me focus on the rest of my setup without worrying about getting new sticks, because they just work. And they work well. As the title says, these are the best sticks I've owned. If you want more power than the 5A but still need a light weight to really rip out some quick fills, and you also want a durable drumstick, I highly recommend these. The one drawback: the sugar maple sticks all have a stranger textures than the hickory sticks, so they slip in my hands rather frequently. I plan to try out some grip tape or something to help stop this. ... show more

    • I've found "the pair".
I've been looking for the right stick since I started drumming, as I've always just kind of gone with what other people told me. It wasn't until i stumbled upon the majesty that is Sugar Maple that I found contentment. This is the PERFECT stick for JAZZ or FUSION drummers (meaning a lighter strike more oft then not) who like the grip and durability of sticks between 5A and 5B, but want the lightness and length of a Vater 7A. As far as I can recall, I've only broken one pair (out of four) and it was because I tried to use them for a heavy metal practice session. This isn't to say that you can't hit with these, because you most certainly can! They will take a punch and give 'em too! These have been my most durable pair of playing sticks (not practice/drum corp weight) to date. If you're looking for a heavier, more rock-suitable choice, I would suggest the regular Fusions, or a Power Fusion. ... show more

    • Great tone and comfort
One of my favorite sticks! Love the warm tone but remember it's sugar maple and much softer than hickory so they will snap. Vater does a better job pitch matching that Vic Firth in my opinion and very consistent

    • I like 'em but wish the lacquer was more tacky.
I play Jazz and have a been a Regal Tip guy forever. If you're reading this then you know what's going on there. So, I experiment. I got these for a nice price compared to most brands and they have the requisite quality. For me, they feel right, with a nice light weight, without being too thin for me. That of course, is subjective. If there is anything I wish were better for my feel, it would be the lacquer. They don't exactly feel 'naked' but they are more slippery than I had hoped. I guess I'm just used to that Regal Tip feel. As I use them I get more used to them, and especially for this price, I can recommend them to anyone who wants that Maple feel with a diameter slightly thicker than a 5A. ... show more

These are my sons favorite sticks. They are a lighter weight stick, but they seem to hold up just as good as a heavier stick.

Vater always makes great drum sticks and these are NO exception. Well balanced and durable, these are great all purpose kit sticks for any player.

Been using this model Vater stick for about 2 years now, love them, sound great cross-stick sound due to sonorous nature of the maple... Most stores don't stock these so I get them from Amazon, no problems with shipping so far...
