Description

The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of Boston's legendary Jack's Drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather Jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy Rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater brothers began producing private- label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this led to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook MA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the Splash Stick and Acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh Freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple. . . to produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

  • Vater Drumsticks Review
Style: Stewart Copeland
I've been playing drums for over twenty years and have used a range of different sticks aimed at rock to jazz to metal drummers. As I progressed from my angry teenage years through to my more thought out twenties and into my thirties I've changed sticks to suit the style I was playing at the time. I recently discovered Vater's Stewart Copeland series drumsticks. I've been a fan of Stewart's before I was playing drums. In fact, I owe Stewart a large debt of thanks as his style has had a huge influence on my own. Since I have taken playing more seriously again in the last few years I decided to see if my favorite drummer had a series designed by him (as every major drummer has these days), and was happy to find them available. The weight is perfect and they balance extremely well in the palm of your hand, and they are slim and long yet sturdy for those hard hits a rock drummer can make while being light enough for the tricky hi-hat paradiddles. They can also withstand a massive beating as I've had a pair last for weeks. So for those who like the hard hits as well as the light hand-work, I would recommend the Vater Stewart Copeland series sticks. They are the best I have used. ... show more

  • Something a "Nutter" Can't Live Without!
Style: Stewart Copeland
These drumsticks are just what I have been looking for since my first Stagg pair have started showing more advanced signs of wear. And, of course, being a huge fan of Stewart Copeland I simply couldn't go with any other pair than the one he endorses. The sticks are excellent in quality and "just feel right", so to speak. They definitely make a difference in sound, partially due to general design, partially due to difference in weight compared to the last pair I used. Looking forward to some excellent jam sessions with these sticks! ... show more

  • Rim shots are amazing with these sticks!!
Style: Stewart Copeland
You know why Stewart’s rim shots sound so great? These sticks. Seriously. I generally use Chad Smith sticks which are heavier, but awesome, and got the Stewart sticks on a whim. Never liked my rim shots with the Chad sticks, which sounded muddy, exact same spot and technique with the Stewart sticks just cut through the mix ... show more

  • One of the best sets of sticks I own
Style: Stewart Copeland
amazing feel, super well balanced and very well made! I like these over 90% more than the other sticks I own. Love the tip!

  • Good for speed, not rudiments.
Style: Stewart Copeland
Good stick. Kind of light and thin for me. I prefer the 5A extreme. The weight of these sticks isn't great for rudiments, as they lack bounce for diddles and such, but their lightness make them good for speed, which is what Cope is all about.
