  • An excellent tool for all your nighttime adventures ,
Color: Standard
One of the best items I’ve ever ordered. I used the monocular for a recent ghost hunting gig! Sometimes things happen that zooming in on a camera just doesn’t work! But this tool not only allows you to see things far off it lets you do it in pitch black dark! If you need a tool that helps you see things at a distance in complete darkness this is the tool for you! Do yourself a huge favor and purchase one! The price is right, the equipment worked flawlessly and, as a result, we had a blast hunting spirits in the dark! ... show more

  • Night vision works great! Don't give up if computer won't connect. Try a different computer.
Color: Standard
Night Vision works great for under $70 after discounts, taxes and free ship. I am a bit disappointed that when just using this as a monocular you really can't see the image very clearly. It is a little blurry, and I cannot find any settings for adjusting the view screen's resolution. If you shoot video, however, the video playback is wonderful. I had a nightmare getting this thing to connect to a computer. After loosing hair and sleep over it, this unit only twice connected to my Lenovo Ideapad long enough to let me transfer and view my videos. Most of the time it would fail; when it connected it would keep cycling - connecting, dropping, reconnecting, and then again dropping the connection, over and over, and it simply would NOT let me view nor transfer any files. Whenever this problem persisted, WHEN CONNECTED AS A MASS STORAGE DEVICE, a LOW BATTERY INDICATOR would be flashing, despite good batteries being installed and the unit displaying a FULL BATTERY INDICATOR on the prior (video) screens. I WAS able to transfer a few files to my Ideapad twice last night, but then this evening when I tried again, it failed miserably AT LEAST TEN TIMES, even after installing another set of brand new batteries, and even after rebooting the monocular and the Ideapad several times. So, I decided, just for kicks, to try connecting the monocular to my older AMD FX desktop computer that I built about a decade ago. On the very first try it connected flawlessly, and every time since (so far) it has connected to my FX computer running Windows 10. Apparently my Lenovo Ideapad is finicky about what it wants to connect to. At any rate, everything appears to be working at this point. I plan to reinstall the USB drivers on my Ideapad and then try it again for connect ability. I had started a return for this item, but I have since cancelled the return. I still have time to change my mind, but I think this thing is a go! Pros Price - After discounts, free ship and taxes it was $69.11 Recorded Video Quality - Recorded videos look great when played back. Zoomed in - not so much, but I have only tried it on on the HD setting, which I first thought to be 1080, but now think might be 720. Battery Life - I have experimented with my monocular for quite a bit of IR Night Vision time, and I have only discarded one set of TRULY DEAD batteries. When I had connection issues on my Ideapad the monocular would flash a weak battery indicator, which led me to try several sets of new batteries. The batteries were still holding good charge though. Since the USB port on my Ideapad has an issue, I suspect that the low battery indicator during malfunction had something to do with the fact that USB ports offer battery charging on many plugged in devices. Some other people have claimed in their reviews that this unit eats batteries like a monster whenever the infrared light is on, but that has not been my experience. Cons Manual - The manual isn't exact on every word, which did have me scratching my head a little. View screen image - Blurry images on the view screen while recording video is really frustrating. You pretty much have to use the record feature to really see what you are looking at during night vision, and then play it back or transfer the video and view it on something larger. View screen too small - It really is hard to see anything on that tiny view screen, even with strong reading glasses on. You CAN tell that video playback quality is superb, but the viewer screen is just too tiny. ... show more

  • Good bang for your buck budget DNV
Color: Standard
The unit I got has been a good value for the price. Its fairly lightweight even with batteries, very comfortable to hold, doesn't take long to familiarize yourself with button layout and works well for general night spotting. The screen is a bit too bright for me at the lowest setting and the eyepiece is a bit stiff, but both are quite acceptable for the price. If you're looking for something for camping, out on a farm or just as a way to have some fun looking around without shining a flashlight all over this is a great way to dip your toes into being able to do that without spending thousands (or even hundreds in this case) of dollars. I'm glad I picked one up. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 5 months
Color: Standard
UPDATE: I left my original review below, but am updating to share that the camera stopped working after 5 months of minimal use. The camera is powered by AA batteries, which is odd to me anyway. I replaced the batteries a few weeks ago, but when I tried to use it yesterday, got a low battery warning and the camera turned off. When I replaced the batteries last night, the camera screen flashed and then powered off again. Tried another set of batteries and got the same result. Very disappointing. Easy to use. Clear image at great distances. The screen notifications (battery, recording, etc) are difficult to see, and I wish it had a wide angle view to make searching easier. You definitely have to know exactly where to aim the camera, so it's not ideal for searching a large area. But it's great to be able to see that's roaming in the backyard at night, and for tracking/trapping lost cats and dogs, when you need to remain a good distance from the trap so as not to scare them away. ... show more

  • Does not amplify low light, not a real night vision
Color: Standard
These are just infrared and not true night vision. True night vision amplifies very dim light so you can seen infinity distance in almost all totally dark environment. Other night vision are true night vision for about same or slightly more expensive. The infrared is just like any other IR camera and can see ok about 50 yards. This uses 5 aa batteries and they drain quickly. Other NV are rechargeable also. The IR in this is red light and can be seen in the dark. Most people think IR is night vision and don't know what true NV is. The sensor detector should amplify the light but it doesn't. The Boblov night vision I have amplifies light also and I use it for astronomy and can see brighter nebulas easily. ... show more

  • Great for price, lightweight camera
Color: Standard
I needed something to check for eyes of predators on my property. This little handheld does better than I expected based on the price. Had a coupon that brought it down below $70. Easy to use and fits just right in my hand. Not designed for lefthanders though. Screen is small but very bright and clear. SD card was included but when I went to upload my first photos, I found pictures of what appeared to be a warehouse with boxes and crates with Chinese characters printed on them. Not a big deal really. Does need new brand name batteries to work. I've gotten more use out of it than I expected though. Not a bad deal. ... show more
