  • Fun but sometimes frustrating model build.
Style: Radial Engine
The media could not be loaded. Instructions a little hard to read. They use colors to identify pieces. Many look a like. Had to disassemble some sections and rebuild. In the end it ran well for a block model.

  • Have not finished it yet

Honestly, not quite sure. Bought it for my 15 yr old and he’s started it but hasn’t gotten much further. So far seems good.

  • Fun Engine Project
Style: Radial Engine
The media could not be loaded. You have to study the instruction pictures closely or you'll have to go back and redo some steps as I did. Very satisfying result when you get it right.

  • A fun build for a "working" motor
Style: W16 Engine
The media could not be loaded. In the box you get a bunch of bags divided into 3 stages for easier assembly, plus a bag with parts that apparently didn't fit any of the bags, a combination motor & rechargeable battery, a short USB A to C cable, and the instruction book. This isn't a huge model, and the 8+ age is suggests should work just fine, as long as the 8 year old is patient and perceptive. This is because while the instructions are accurate, they are also a bit sneaky. They have the habit of showing sub-piece assemblies in one direction and then showing how they attach to the model in a completely different orientation. They'll also often only show one point of connection for a part that has 2 or more - for example, the pipes that wrap around the front of the engine and some of the side-kibble connect in 2 and 3 places, respectively, but the instructions only have an arrow showing one. You'll have to extrapolate the rest. The parts themselves are all good quality, no missing pieces and in fact, each stage had some leftover parts, maybe 10 or so pieces per, so I felt like I had a good safety net in case one was missing ... or skittered off the table to be apprehended by my cat and never to be seen again. The final step of the build is to attach the motor and turn it on. There are two settings for the motor and I believe it's just a difference in torque. Turn it on and the many gears and belts will turn and the pistons behind the clear shields will pump up and down in sequence, all 16 of them. That being said, since there are so many moving parts and this model is too small to provide rigid support to all of them, there's a lot of friction-causing slop. While you can actuate the model by spinning the exhaust fan with a bit of force, the included motor struggles to make it. I only got it to work on the high torque setting and even then it has to pulse to push the system each time. Even with this, it struggles to work for more than 20 seconds at a time without needing a little push to unstick itself. I believe this is due largely to friction on the belts, but if you really want this thing to run smoothly, you're going to need to be generous with some silicon or graphite lubricant everywhere there's moving parts. Still, it's a pretty cool model and at under 1000 pieces, you can get it built in just a few hours. ... show more
