I purchased the Utopia Bedding Quilted Fitted Mattress Pad, Queen Size, Elastic Fitted Mattress Topper Protector to help get the bumps out of my bed. My old was was getting worn out and I could feel the springs through it. It came in a plastic bag and was compressed. I washed it before putting on and it didn't seem to hurt it any. It fit my queen size mattress just right, I was worried that it wouldn't fit because the mattress was so thick, but I didn't have any problem. With my old one I accidently bought one that had a waterproof liner, that I had to cut out because it made me too hot. For those of you looking for a cover that isn't waterproof this is a good choice. I didn't notice any smell and it looks nice. It isn't really thick, but it isn't too thin either, if you are looking for something to just give the mattress a little protection this is a good purchase. I don't feel the springs of the mattress and it seems like a pretty good quality cover for the cost. I get a better night's sleep because I no longer feel the springs! I followed manufacturer's instructions and shook it out prior to using, to "refluff", since it flattened during transit. I then laundered prior to use. The color is a lovely navy and it fits perfectly. I noticed small white lint all over the pad after laundering. I used a roller to remove most. It caused sneezing. Not sure where this lint is from. I really love how it feels, for a newer cheaper matric. If you like firm, its very nice, defiantly soft on top but holds up well under heavier weight people. Defiantly keeps its shape, its light as well but defiantly sturdy.
