I bought it to use my military CAC reader from home, and in the beginning it didn't appear to work, but I decided to give it another chance by trying to connect it many more times, and it worked. I am giving five stars because in the end it worked. It serves the purpose that it is intended for.

So, the good news about this device is that it works, both as a smart card reader and memory card reader. Not sure if you can actually use it for both at the same time (like they show in the pictures) but at least separately, it does work. Was able to use it with macOS 10.12 (Sierra) on my MacBooks without any difficulty with the cackey software from forge.mil, following the directions from militarycac.com. It does not appear to need any additional special software to work with macOS, once you have cackey and the necessary certificates installed. My only real complaint is that it feels *really* flimsy. I've had it for about three months, and used it a handful of times; not sure it would stand up to all-day, every-day use.

Great little CAC reader. I owned one other CAC reader that died on me within a month of use. Since my last one died I had to search Amazon for the handful of simliar CAC readers for sale at varying price points. I chose this reader based on price and added card reader functionality. This one has had zero issues with drivers, hardware, software, etc. It's small and easily fits into my laptop bag and is relatively unobtrusve when plugged in. The added functionality of being a storage card reader is great (I've tested on SD and microSD with no issue). Highly reccomend.

The product works fine as a CAC reader. The only problem is that the device blocks the usb ports to its immediate right and left. I had to purchase a multiport usb hub, so that I could use this device and and a mouse at the same time. It is not functional with my laptop with out added accessories

I picked this up to replace a larger, bulkier cabled smartcard reader. Nothing against that other smartcard reader, as it works well, but this one travels easier. I travel 10-12 days per month and I do need to utilize my smartcard upon occasion (and the Surface doesn't have a reader built in). I will say that I haven't utilized any of the other media reader functionality of this, so I really cannot speak to that, but the size and the fact that it reads my smartcard without issue makes this a great gadget at a great price.
