This item feels deceivingly cheap, only because it is so light and there is almost nothing to the circuitry which is neat to see. The plastic is of a high quality and density. Plugged it in and it worked just fine right away on Windows 10. This brand is trusted by my workplace, therefor I trust it as well. One major flaw, the blinding blue LED light. Half tempted to desolder the SMT one, and put a small green one in it’s place. Pro Tip: Make sure you have the root certificates installed in your browsers certificate store for the websites or resources you are visiting. ... show more

I ordered this and it just came in some plastic no type of instructions no type of directions on how to get software to use nothing just the item in a bag so now I have to turn around and order something else that will come with some type of manual or something absolute waste of my money it does not work!! No issues with this reading smart cards. I wanted something smaller for travel that wasn't a folding one which seem to break frequently. My only issue and why I took a star away is the obnoxious blinding blue light that blinks, persists, during read operations, or card reader usage. My other HID Global just has a faint green light that is only noticeable if you look at it. This you can't help but see. ... show more

I strongly would consider you download the drivers first, then it should work on Windows 7/8.1 . Do not assume the driver detection program.
