- Capable of 4k 60hz signal while running through extensions in addition to cable alone*. - Will handshake as a device in Windows 10 even when hdmi not plugged into a display. Does not appear in MacOS (12.5.1) as a monitor unless hdmi side is plugged into your display. Figured this info may help folks with specific use cases in mind identify what kind of circuitry is going on. - While I have not tried it, I can from background knowledge assert this will not allow you to run HDMI out (like a playstation) into a Mac w/TB3+ input (like XDR, LG Ultrafines, Studio Display). This has to do with HDMI and DisplayPort as standards and the fact that conversion is (to my knowledge) only one way capable. There are cables marketed as achieving this bidirectional support, but not in HDMI (only displayport), and none have worked for me personally. Your best option may be some kind of capture hardware or something, but just know this is USB C -> HDMI only. Because the cable has some active circuitry, it is more capable of going bad at some point than a simple passive cable to my knowledge. I have had one Uni Type C to HDMI/usb A/power in adapter that has seemingly broken at some point for unknown reason(s). If long term this fails, I will update review to give a sense of longevity (initially purchased in August of 2022). * Ran this cable from the rear TB3 ports of a 2019 Mac Pro AMD 6800 MPX Module into an cdmi 2.1 keystone and through another Uni 4k 60hz capable HDMI cable to be able to reroute rear I/O to rack mount front panel hot swap for external TVs (enables testing content on different tvs, or testing tvs themselves in an office setting, as well as preventing manual connection/disconnection routine stress to accumulate on cable or ports (keystones are cheaper to replace). ... show more

I have a 2018 Mac mini running dual 4k monitors. The monitor have USB-C, DisplayLink, and HDMI. I first tried hooking up using USB-C, then a USB-C to DisplayLink to USB-C, and finally this USB-C to HDMI. The issue was that the monitors would work initially, but after some time (could be 1/2 day or full day), the monitors would not come on when waking the Mac. They were not getting any signal. For the HP monitors I have, the only way to fix this was to unplug the power plug going into the monitor. After that, they would restart and work for a period of time, then same thing all over.
