I originally picked up these extra large moving blankets for protection during a move, but I ended up hanging them on the walls of my studio for sound dampening — and they work surprisingly well. The thickness and heavy material really cut down on echo and reverb, giving the room a much cleaner sound for recording and streaming. They’re big enough to cover large sections of wall, easy to hang, and actually look pretty good once in place. Definitely a more affordable option compared to acoustic panels, and they’ve made a huge difference in how professional my audio sounds. If you’re setting up a home studio on a budget, these blankets are a smart and practical solution.

Quick Take: We started with 2 of these curtains in our production studio, and they worked so well that we invested in 6 more. The sound difference is dramatic, though there is a strong chemical odor when new. What I like: Excellent sound control: Cuts down echo and outside noise, which immediately improved our recording quality. Heavy-duty build: Thick material, solid stitching, and they hang nicely. Their heavy weight is expected — and necessary — for effective sound blocking. Proven performance: We expanded from 2 to 8 curtains because the results were that good. What could be better: Price: Higher than standard curtains, but worth it if you need real sound dampening. Chemical odor: Strong smell out of the box — recommend airing them out before installation. Not for warmth: They are heavy and dense, but not designed as a traditional blanket substitute. Verdict: These curtains transformed our studio by significantly reducing noise. While heavy, pricey, and initially odorous, they perform exactly as intended. For anyone serious about sound control, they’re 100% worth the investment.

I hung these over the walls in my bands wood-framed, unfinished practice space with these to cut down on high frequency reflections. The grommets are great for that - though they are pretty widely spaced, and only along two adjacent edges - so you can hang it from hooks along the long or short edge. But the opposite edges don’t have grommets. This was a problem for me because I wanted to be able to get a blanket out of the way (eg to access shelves behind it) by folding it in half, putting the bottom edge of the blanket on the same hooks the tops already on, then using a strap or two to bundle them up there - kind of like furling a sail on a yard on a tall ship. I can still tie it up with straps, but the straps will have to support the full weight of the blanket.

We live across the street from a post office that starts loading up its fleet every day at 4am. The shipping trucks and rusty warehouse doors opening were getting too much to take, so I ordered 3 of these in the largest size to cover all 3 of the windows in our bedroom: 2 that are roughly 4" x 6" and 1 that's 7" by 7". I hung these using 50lb picture hanging hooks to avoid the risk of running into studs with drilling, ensuring the blankets overlapped the frame of the window by at least 3" on all sides. The hooks aren't visible now that I have my curtains rehung, though I did have to buy longer curtains for two of my windows to make sure they covered the blankets. But since I no longer have to worry about getting blackout curtains, I opted for some long velvet curtains so it's honestly more of an aesthetic upgrade anyway! Since hanging these I have not been awoken by the 4am postal fleet. The only outside noise that does penetrate is obnoxiously loud noise, like the jackhammering that goes along with the new construction about 100 feet away from our house. Still a vast improvement to what we were previously experiencing though.

There's all sorts of questionable quality stuff on Amazon these days, especially when you're talking cinematography stuff. Fortunately there's some gems on Amazon too and this blanket, which is entirely made in the USA, is one of them. There's not much to say or expect from these other than they're nice and heavy and DARK. All parts are sewed nicely, the clasps are conveniently and evenly placed, there's no weird smell coming off them, and they truly do work in minimizing reverb/echo and blocking some sound. It should be noted that to truly block sound, you need something thicc and heavy to block it like mass loaded vinyl and there are blankets out there that have said MLV. But if you just need to minimize sound and echo or need something to black out a light source, this is the best you can get on Amazon. Never thought I'd be excited to buy blankets of any sort but I legit cannot wait to get a few more of these heavy bois to see what additional acoustic deadening magic they provide when all four walls are covered in them. Thanks for making an awesome product and at a price that's more affordable and higher quality than everyone else.

I bought it to muffle neighbor’s dog’s barking. I fastened it over the windows, then I put bookshelves in front of the windows, there was no discernible reduction in noise. While fastening and immediately thereafter, I listened to that dog bark. It barks 12 hours per day. The only solution was calling a city animal agency, again. They showed up and fined the owner. Dog owner immed contacted me via text and on advice from a friend and the Internet, I admitted I’d reported it. The dog owner acted like he was helpless to stop the barking bc “dogs”. It stressed me out to take the action I did, so I had a couple of ounces of vermouth and lemon to calm down. I woke up today realizing what I did was the only way to stop it. I returned this product.
