For me this gasket is not quite as comfortable as the original - that one distributes the weight better and molds to my face more and feels softer. Of course the downside is it can cause sweating and get soaked in a long session with the Index. The replacement is a bit stiffer, but it might break in over time. The replacement comes with 2 sets of padding. The padding is attached with velcro, pretty easy to change. The lens cover is nice to have as well. The plastic frame snaps in and out using the magnets, just like the original. The rubber nose flaps are a bit different - they look larger, and in theory should block more light around the nose, but in practice, I get about the same amount of light leakage around my nose as with the original flaps. But this probably depends in everyones unique anatomy and nose shape, so YMMV. The Valve gaskets are currently out of stock, and also cost more, so if you need a replacement, this one is worth considering. ... show more

The quality of this is great, but that’s the only positive thing about it. Firstly the material is very tough and doesn’t mold to your face properly. It’s quite uncomfortable. Which really sucks considering you can tell it’s good quality. Other issue I ran into is that because this doesn’t mold to your face properly it will leave your vision of everything slightly blurred. Especially if you’re partially blind like I am. Overall I don’t recommend this unless you’re 1) not blind 2) genuinely have a super small head 3) don’t mind that it’ll feel like a rock pressed against your face. ... show more

My old Valve Index face gasket was getting worn out especially from the repeated use and all the sweat. It is nice have a newer one that feels similar to the original! The fit is also is perfect for me, but disclaimer my face is on the smaller end. The face gasket looks very similar to the original one and has the magnets that lock in place to the headset. The padding I wouldn't say is as soft as I remember the original one being, however, it is still soft enough to the original, especially after the old one has seen better days. The quality is pretty great and it soaks up sweat like a champ and is easy to clean. It was also easy to install and comes with all the accessories you need to replace it. If you’ve been using the stock Valve Index gasket for a while, you know it can get pretty "swampy" during a long session of Beat Saber or Half-Life: Alyx. This kit is a total lifesaver. The magnetic bracket snaps in just like the original, but the dual covers are much easier to wipe down. For example, the anti-leak nose pad actually works—I no longer have that annoying sliver of light coming in from the bottom that ruins the immersion. Nowhere near as good as the original. Feels cheap. Does not stay attached like original. Kind of a pain always coming apart. I will replace.
