I tried the oculus quest 2 of a family member and I had to get a VR. I got the HP reverb G2 and I loveit is more confortable, amazing video quality and easy to set up fallowing a 10 minutes tutorial from YouTube. I saw a los of reviews and I Was worry about the tracking but no problems with the tracking I was playing minecraft and pavlov and the experience was fun and awesome and I got this used good as New for $400 and everything was in the box and everything looks New. Edit: 2025 I had the VR with the wires on the roof and today the video stopped to the headset. From what I seen they have a problem with the cable and the replacement is $90 to $120 I won't recommend this headset in 2025 unless you can get it for $200 some how in a good condition. Also the tracking works fine in most games I have play but for games with a lot of movement it's very bad of unplayable like gorilla tag. ... show more

    • Fantastic VR Headset but has a cable issue.
The G2 is simply awesome. It's light weight, has great resolution and is super smooth! The face mask fits well and is comfortable and doesn't let in any light. I give it 5 starts because of this. However, there is a known issue with the cable and USB firmware, HP is aware of the issue and is working to correct it. The cable may or may not work well. I had a cable that worked for about a week, and it didn't work very well. Then all of a sudden my headset stopped working. I contacted HP support and they sent me a new cable free of charge. It took about two weeks for me to receive the new cable but the new cable fixed 100% of the issues I had before. Even though you might have an issue with the cable I would still completely recommend this headset but know that you might need a new cable. But it's totally worth it!!! ... show more

Resolution wise, these are amazing for the price! I’m not so sure I’d compare them to something like a Pimax or in the 4K league, but they do wonders. I hear a lot of people complain about periphery but I don’t see that issue as much, partially because I tend to be tunnel visioned when I play games. Primarily I use them on iRacing and Digital Combat Simulator, which have both been amazing titles to play in VR. I also played Assetto Corsa, except that I can’t get the FOV to work for me in that game. I also ended up making a custom bracket to hold everything on the rig I use which made the whole thing much more organized to work with. That was a good, here’s the bad. Nearly every time I start my computer and open up windows mixed reality, I always have to power cycle or USB cycle the headset before I can use it. It will not come straight onto the computer without some kind of issue. It’s a very simple thing to address in drivers or what not, I’m not sure why HP doesn’t deal with that. I heard on the newer revisions there’s a reset button on the power/usb block you push to jog power on/off. Really??? Then there’s just a general issue of getting it to work on the computer. Not very straightforward, not that its HP‘s fault necessarily. There’s a lot of gears in the process of making it work. Steam VR is an option, but very unrecommended if you want good frame rate without a lot of overhead from the system. That means doing a bit of detective work for now until vendors and software developers get their act together. Within 6 months the right ear cup has become chronically intermittent. Meaning, you’ll be playing a game and the audio will cut out, but shaking your head or tapping it brings it back. Some sort of disconnect. I’m eventually going to move to a set of Bluetooth earbuds to address this problem. I don’t put that many hours in the seat at a time, so they should be able to last long enough. My other option would be to get some wired earbuds but that means running another cable to the computer which is difficult from a simrig, plus the added cabling that follows your head. Headtracking overall has been very good provided there’s enough light in the room. That seems to be the only thing I’ve noticed in terms of headtracking issues. I imagine if you had something else with satellites (a la Steam Index or similar) this would be a non-issue in the dark, but I didn’t want to have the extra equipment in the room just to use it. I rent an apartment, so I don’t wanna constantly have to keep moving those things around form place to place, plus it’s more things to break. For the image quality and cost, hard to beat this! Just know it may take a bit more proficiency and troubleshooting to iron out the kinks from day to day. ... show more

I have just a few pros and all cons the cons first CONS: 1: Graphics suck in Assetto Corsa Competizion. I tried LOW to EPIC and it just sucked, stutter, blur, focus see 4. 2: Setup for iRacing is far easier but graphics/visuals is better than ACC setup is cumbersome but graphics is the achilles heal. 3: In spite of reviews never get the SteamVR Vive Tracker 2.0 will not pair with controllers 4: Either the lens were not installed correctly, I had to tilt my head up to see anything that came into focus reasonably. This was true in Mixed Reality, iRacing, ACC and general setup 5: Over all setup was a bust, once I got it somewhat working, everything disappeared 6: If you are a glass wearer and the glasses are larger than 5.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches Good luck PROS: 1: It was comfortable to wear, with out glasses or smaller glasses then mentioned 2: The sound was awesome. Overall, I had high expectations after going through almost all reviews, youtube, how too's. It was just not worth the pain of setup and torture to reset when it all went bad. I purchased this mainly to SIM Race. To be fair, I did manage to run an hour in ACC no motion sickness, but I had to run all graphcs at low. I have a AMD 5800x, X570 Aorus Elite WiFi MB, Crucial DDR4-266 Memory and an MSI RTX3060 12gb Graphics. With nothing running only ACC or iRacing stutter, blinking was just not worth it. ... show more

Like some I was hesitant on this purchase as I seemed to focus more on the bad reviews and worried a lot about set up. I am no computer geniuses but for the most part it really wasn’t that bad. I currently have Alienware Aurora R14 Liquid Cooled Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 9 5900, 32GB 3466MHz RAM, 1TB SDD + 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X Graphics, VR Ready, USB-C, Windows 11 Home …. I only use it for flight sims.. specially xplane 11. From the beginning I had no issues at all with my system detecting the Reverb G2 v2 and setup was as simply as following the directions during the intial set up process. Now it did take some time to tweak the headset to my liking for xplane 11 .. more trial and error but that’s all thanks to finding a ton of helpful youtube videos to really get the best out of what my system could do. I am new to VR so I have had no prior experience. I did have to tweak some computer settings to get the best performance. Everyone’s computer is different unless you have the exact same set up as me. The graphics are amazing through the head set.. yes smaller sweet spot than what i would prefer but from what i have read compared to other units .. it’s one of the best. .. Side note .. I did receive the G2 V2.1 … some have said it’s not but they must have gotten a bad seller or just really bad luck.. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and just got the unit about a week ago ... show more

works really well i believe i got this for a discount. beware windows mixed reality is no longer supported so you will have to run an old copy of windows to run windows mixed reality. no way to run this headset without WMR.

I don’t leave a ton of reviews but I see a lot of people wondering whether to splurge on this headset or the Quest 2. Bought this for my son for his birthday and he likes it. I bought the Quest 2 for his birthday last year and he loves it but he needed something compatible with his HP laptop. If you’re looking for a sleek, better graphics headset and you’re not too worried about comparability with gaming computers, go with the Quest 2. It’s cheaper as well. ... show more

    • A nice "upgrade" from the Oculus Rift, but with some notable software issues
For various reasons, my home setup recently changed, suddenly making base stations a huge nuisance, so I needed to "upgrade" from my old reliable Oculus Rift (pre-S) to something with inside out tracking. I considered the Meta Quest but rejected it mainly because I wanted "true" PCVR. Reviews of this product were generally positive so I took a chance and got one. Setup is mostly straightforward but there definitely is some setting up to do! There are more wires than you would think for this setup: the cable that connects the headset to the computer has its own power supply, so that means an additional tangle of wires to attend to. The cable is quite long though, so that helps. Once the headset is powered up just get Windows Mixed Reality running and off you go. Now to the bad news- the Windows Mixed Reality software causes quite a few issues of its own, due to reported GPU memory leaks, and a weird Windows "bug" (google 'hp reverb HolographicShell' for more info). I've definitely experienced that "drunken," slow, unplayable performance state that some of the negative reviews here have reported on! For a while it seemed like this headset would simply not work with No Man's Sky. But once I found that bug mentioned earlier and fixed it, the performance was great... BUT it does degrade over time, meaning you'll need to re-start the Windows Mixed Reality software periodically. Even now, I will periodically get terrible performance trying to play a game, and need to restart WMR to get back to normal. The controllers take two batteries each (more power-hungry than the Rift controllers, which only take one). One minor complaint: the Rift controllers had touch sensitive buttons, and the Reverb controller buttons are not. As for the headset itself, It feels pretty solid & well built; the strap setup is basically the same as the Rift. The resolution is definitely an improvement over the old Rift. Field of vision looks roughly similar to the Rift; the "sweet spot" (the area that's the most in-focus) is smaller though. I really like the way the audio speakers sit away from my ear; it's gives you great, immersive sound without covering your ear completely, making you blind AND deaf to your surroundings. Head tracking seems just the tiniest bit laggy compared to a base station setup, but definitely tolerable (my graphics card is an RTX 2060). Overall I'd recommend this headset for a good, "true" mid-range PCVR experience. ... show more
