Frequently asked questions

The Valve Index VR Full Kit includes a range of components for a full virtual reality experience. The kit features the Valve Index Headset, two controllers, and two base stations. It also comes with a power adapter, mounting hardware, charging cables, cleaning cloth, and the necessary USB and HDMI connection cables. Moreover, it provides access to a free digital copy of 'Half-Life: Alyx'.

Yes, the Valve Index VR kit is backward compatible with HTC Vive's hardware, including Vive Wands and Vive base stations. This cross-compatibility allows you to mix and match components. But for the best experience, it is recommended to use all the components of the Valve Index kit together.

Valve Index stands out among VR kits mainly due to its high-fidelity virtual reality. Its dual 1440x1600 RGB LCDs provide 50% more subpixels resulting in an increased sharpness for the same rendering cost. In addition, it has a 120Hz/144Hz refresh rate, which is higher compared to a typical 90Hz VR headset, reducing latency and improving gameplay. The Index also features 'room-scale' VR capability, allowing you to physically walk or move within your play area.

Valve Index requires a high-spec PC for optimal operation. Minimum system requirements are a Dual Core processor with Hyper-Threading and a graphics card equivalent to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, or an AMD RX480. Preferred system requirements, however, would be a quad-core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or better. The PC must also have available DisplayPort (or Mini DisplayPort) and USB 3.0 ports.

The product, though on the pricey side, is generally well-regarded for its excellent performance and compatibility with various devices. Some customers reported issues with the base stations and controllers, but these were usually rectified via replacement or self-fixes. The fast shipping and ability to deliver to countries where purchasing directly from Steam is unavailable was highly praised.

Pros

  • 💡Sealed package and quick delivery, even across international borders.
  • 🎮Excellent compatibility with various devices and perfect for VR gaming.
  • ⚙️ Index controllers and base stations are typically in perfect working condition.

Cons

  • 🔌Occasional issues with base stations and controllers, some needing replacement.
  • 😵Potential compatibility issues with certain gaming laptops, research is advised before purchase.
  • 💰Generally considered overpriced by some customers.

Should I Buy It?

Yes, if you're a VR enthusiast on the lookout for a stellar gaming experience and you've checked the compatibility with your gaming system. Do be ready to potentially pay a premium for the product, given its high demand and the charges for international shipping.

  • Perfect product, shipping.. but make sure to check for compatibility with your pc or laptop!
I know everyone here is complaining about the price but I ordered from here because steam doesn’t deliver the index to my country (Kuwait) beside that.. the product got delivered fast and everything was perfect and sealed but I can’t talk about the headset because I didn’t do my research and I didn’t know that it will not work with my gaming laptop but that was fine because i have oculus quest 2 and i’ve been using the index controllers with the quest and the controllers are perfect the base stations are also perfect plus it will be helpful for me in the future if i wanted to buy trackers for the full body since i have two base stations now. I would recommend this but make sure that your gaming laptop or pc is compatible with the index. ... show more

  • The package was delivered in great condition!
I set up and tested the headset and base stations and everything works great! I mainly bought this to use in VRC and am happy with how it was delivered, thank you very much! P.s Don't mind the left base station, it accidentally got that way when i was opening the package/how i carried it in.

  • International Purchase
Could not order from steam so it was my only option. We already know about the steam price so I rate the product. I received a high quality brand new sealed product as expected. I would recomand to look at compatible game list as some of the game I own wont goes well without mapping controler. As an aditional info, it takes time, and you will have to pay large international custom fee ... show more

  • Buyer beware :The over 800 dollar restocking fee after retuning a DAMAGED system we received.
System came early but would not work on my sons brand new gaming system and we even went to a gaming place to see why and they could not get it to work so I returned it within days. They never stated a restocking fee especially over 800 dollars they are not willing to work with me and the system did not work when received. So I don’t no why I’m charged for a restocking fee when it was received damaged! Buyer beware! ... show more
