Features

  • Upgraded Anti-Drowning Design: Includes bonus drowning prevention rings (2 per feeder) to ensure the safety of your bees while they feed. The sponge ring is made of bee-friendly material, can be put inside the transparent inner lid to prevent bees from exiting and provide a secure standing area while they're feeding
  • Easy to Use: The transparent inner lid in the hive top feeder can avoid the bees from flying around, making feeding time a breeze. The bee top feeder is easy to install and can be refilled without opening the hive or disturbing the bees
  • Protective Design: Closed design & bee feeders for inside hives can prevent unwanted visitors, such as external bees that snatch food
  • Good for All Seasons: Use the bee feeder for hives to feed liquid in warm weather and granular sugar or pollen in cold weather. Highly effective and convenient during winter
  • Dimensions and Capacity: Measures 10.31 x 10.31 x 2.24 inches, fits for both 8-frame and 10-frame Langstroth supers, and holds 1.8 liters (approx. 1/2 gallon, 4 pints) of water/syrup

  • Mostly a good product.
Style: 2 Pack
Overall, the round feeder works as advertised. Some bees still manage to squeeze past the sponge and drown in the syrup, but I think the sponge is still worth trying. Certain colonies just can't seem to figure out how to drink syrup without falling in it.

  • Great product for bee feeding
Style: 2 Pack
The best hive top feeder I've used, no robbing, no drowned bees

  • Save the bees!
Style: 4 Pack
Worked absolutely amazing, until it dried out and my bees started eating the foam. Not sure how bad that is for the bees but we stopped using these. I wish that didn’t happen because we would still be using them. It was so easy to feed the bees sugar water. Cleaning them was not hard at all. The unit kept the bees inside the hive on top, which made feeding sooooo much easier. ... show more

  • Good top feeder.
Style: 2 Pack
Sponges save on drowning bees. The sponges work well but don't last so be ready to order replacements every year or so. Great way to feed a lot of liquid food fast.

  • Excellent feeder for establishing new colonies
Style: 1 Pack
I love this feeder. I find it especially valuable when starting a new package in a hive. I set it on top of the inner cover and placed an empty medium box around it with the telescoping cover on top. It's easy to refill, just pop the cover off the hive, open the feeder and add syrup. The clear inner cap provides a small window into the hive to see how much activity there is, but you don't have to hood up and use smoke just to feed. It holds enough to feed for 3 or 4 days with an establishing colony. I did have a colony hang comb off the clear plastic cap, but that was valuable because it was an early indication that the colony was growing and expanding (still had 2+ frames that needed drawn) and it was time to add another brood box. ... show more

  • Bad design kills hundreds of bees at a time if syrup runs low
Style: 2 Pack
Design flaws galore. Same for all of the vendors selling this generic line of feeders. The outer lid is opaque so you can't see what's going on without lifting it. Inner clear cap (the only clear part) allows too much space at the bottom. If the syrup is running low they can lift it up with just the mass of them moving about underneath it which allows them to escape to their premature death even better. I don't think the vendors know what "bee space" is because if they did they would not make it possible to get through. Bees will regularly get through, drown, or die a horrible death of overheating or freezing, depending of the outside temperatures, as they are not able to return to their self-regulated hive environment. The new "upgraded" model only adds a cheap ill-fitting sponge ring that doesn't really do the intended job. It only lasts a few weeks and then crumbles apart. And why does it have to be dyed yellow? Who knows what's in the dye but I doubt it's organic (and, on that note, they don't tell you what kind of plastic is used for any of the parts, if you are concerned at all about contaminating your honey with plasticizers). Finally, the capacity of these feeders is so little as to only provide a 2-3 day supply of syrup during a dry spell with limited available natural nectar sources. That means more frequent openings of the super, more work for us, more bothering of the workers and more riling up of the starving guard bees. Keep your suits on! ... show more

  • Dead bees
Style: 1 Pack
I've done 2 feedings and after each feeding there are about 8 bees dead in the bottom. The sponge doesn't seem to work very well. Doing my 3rd feeling without the sponge to see how well that goes.

  • Perfect feeder
Style: 2 Pack
The sponge ring is genius! Holds 6 cups of sugar water. Filled it 3 times for one hive already and not a single drowned bee. If you are comfortable with the capacity, it’s perfect. Does the job well and you get 2! Well worth it IMO.
