I would consider this bench vice (4.5") a medium duty unit. I like the way it mounts to my work bench because it is very solid when tightened up. I bought the plastic inserts that are magnetic so that I can put my chainsaw bar in it to sharpen the chain. And because of the way it mounts I can take it with me when cutting wood and mount it on my trailer to sharpen the chain when away from home. I definitely recommend it and believe it to be a very good deal for the price. The tolerances could be tighter, but it is worth having.

My husband wanted a vise. First I had to discover what exactly he wanted. He explained the concept and said he would look at Home Depot or Lowe's next weekend. And put his task on hold. He never gets around to finishing thing so I checked Amazon for him one. This was on Monday and by Friday it was here and his face lit up when he seen it. He said he did not need so big of one I joke I could send it back. He grabbed it saying no way. I finished the one project and over the weekend did two more. I think I like this more then him, he can get things done.

I built a cutting board workbench top and didn't want to drill through it to mount a vice. I needed a clamp-on medium duty vice to sharpen mower blades and basic light duty work. This is made very well and has an awesome clamp and doesn't move at all. The swivel feature is quite handy also.
