  • Radio
Style: SWC
So far I can’t say I like or not like having the radio yet. Radio sounds great for the first 2 days I had it and then all of the sudden my Bluetooth keeps reconnecting and disconnects and also my radio is making a static noise while music or no music is playing. Thanks to the seller, I am getting one send out to me and I didn’t have to use my warranty to get another one sent out to me. The only downfall I have with this radio other than my issues is the phone microphone. People cannot hear me well. Other than that, before the issues started the radio sounds great with a little delay. ... show more

  • Review plus install help
Style: SWC
The media could not be loaded. Clear sound except when connected by USB there's a faint clicking sound. Stable bluetooth no skips or missing bits of audio. Bluetooth link with phone GPS. You can't use fm radio & GPS at the same time just bt music The diagram sticker on the radio made install straight forward. The backup camera works well but the instructions doesn't tell you to connect the red wire on the video cable to the + on the reverse light. For the price I'd say it's worth it. The rest is radio install basics I'll try to walk you through wiring a radio without a diagram. You'll need a multimeter, random 3 feet+ of wire or extension cords, tap & paper After removing the old radio make tiny labels for each wire. After you ID a wire write it on the label. Setup a -/ground wire for testing. Attaching a wire/extension cord to the -/ground on the battery. Attach the other end to the black multimeter prob. The black prob can be detached after identifying -/ground & the speaker wires. Id the power wire. Switch the multimeter to DC voltage. With the car in the off position Test all the pins. with the red prob. You're looking for 12v always on power pin. Id the acc/ignition power wire. Turn the car key to the acc or on position. You don't need to start the car. Test the pins you're looking for a pin that's 12v only when the keys are in the acc or on position. Id the illumination wire. Turn on the headlights & test the pins. Look for a pin that's 12v pin only when you turn the headlights on or half on. Shut off the car. Id the antenna wire. There should be a connector attaching 1 wire to the radio harness that the antenna wire. WARNING WARNING WHEN IDENTIFYING -/GROUND & SPEAKERS PUT TAPE OVER THE POWER PINS. WHEN DOING A CONTINUITY TEST TOUCHING NEGATIVE & POSITIVE CAN SHORT OUT YOUR MULTIMETER Id the -/ground & speakers steering wheel control. Switch the multimeter to the sound looking symbol when you touch the probes together it should beep. Test the pins the 1 that beeps is the -/ground. The pins that don't react at all are the speaker wires. You may have a steering wheel control wire it should have a resistance value. If more than 1 pin beeps you have a ground speaker. Check the trunk speakers first. You're looking for a wire touching the metal on the bottom of the speaker. put electrical tape on the metal not the wires. The wires connection can be fragile. Id which speaker wires are linked. Remove the black prob from the ground. Do a continuity test on the speaker wires when it beeps that the -+ for that set of speakers. Label them s1,s2,s3,s4. Id the position of speakers. Cut the speaker wires to s1 use a AA or AAA battery touch one of the wires to the - the other to +. The noise will come from FR,FL,RR,RL, don't forget to label before cutting the next Id which speaker wire is -+. Connect the battery to the speaker wires if the -+ are correct the speaker cone will move up. If it's wrong it will move down. The magnet is the bottom. The speakers - are normally on the same row of the connectors Connecting the wires to the new radio connector. • Great value, not double din!
Style: SWC
The media could not be loaded. Just finished the install in a 2012 Silverado WT. Seems to work great, sounds good and CarPlay hooked right up. Very happy! Time will tell if it holds up and performs consistently. Seriously impressive for the cost. The Bad…. This thing is not standard double din size, it’s bigger. I had to dremell out the install kit and drill new holes in the install kit for this stereo to mount to it. Probably two hours of screwing around. What a pain. In the end it works and it looks good because I can use the trim ring it came with to cover up the dremelled opening. ... show more

  • Great unit.
Style: SWC
Got this unit to go into my old Matrix. It sounds wonderful and works great. Nice to have a modern unit that links to my phone via CarPlay with no fuss. It is also nice to use Google maps with it. The phone features are ok. Not the best but still better than driving with a phone to my ear.

  • Good sounding, Fast booting, thin wires and bezel too big.
Style: SWC
UPDATE AUG 13, 2025 After about a month of using the stereo in my wife's car, here is my take and a few updates. There is no issue with the original camera that came with it, but I ended up getting a replacement camera that offeres a 170° field of view. Also, most cameras including the built in one in my 2024 kia Sportage are ina 4:3 aspect ratio so you aren't actually losing any screen real estate. It's just not centered on the screen which I wish it was. You do NOT have to connect the ground wire for the camera power cord. Infact the camera randomly disconnects when the ground is connected. The Carplay/Android auto part is pretty good. The sound quality from the speakers are still great. I was incorrect though, you can browse around in the menu and have audio come from the Carplay/ Android auto, but it requires using the EXIT button from the apps screen instead of using the mode button. A home button would fix this issue. The built in mic for calls is TERRIBLE. The sound coming through the stereo is Cristal clear, but the person on the other end hears a LOUD clicking noise the whole call and your voice is not clear. I thought getting an external mic would fix this, but the same sound is heard and the audio quality is slightly better, but it seems the noise from is generated internally so a mic is not going to fix that. The MAIN reason I was relacing the stereo was so that my wife would be able to make hands free calls. If the call quality wasn't an issue, this would be a perfect stereo. I thought about adding one of those displays that plug into the cigarette lighter, but the socker stays on all the time so it would either kill her battery or she would have to plug it in and out every single time. My backup plan was to get a cheap stereo and use the USB out from it to power the display. Unfortunately this will not work as the USB port isn't even strong enough to charge my phone so it definitely won't power one of those Carplay displays. I would return it if I could, but unfortunately, I am past the 30 day return window, so I will just eat the cost and get another one with better call quality. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW All in all good Android Auto/ Carplay stereo. But there are some issues. I will start off with the pros. PROS -The manual has a lot of CLEAR instructions of how to wire and hook up it up. Most of the colors matched so you might be able to color match as well, but not all. -Comes with accessories. Two remotes, One that mounts to steering wheel and a regular one. and a reverse camera. -Boots up pretty fast. A few seconds after your Turn on your car you are connected and are ready to go. -True Android Auto/ Carplay. Some cheaper stereos require you to download a mirroring app, this one doesn't. -Screen looks very nice. It's just as clear as the built in Carplay stereo in my 2024 Sportage. -Audio quality is very good. Sounds better than the stock stereo and gets very loud without distortion. -Easy wired pairing for Android Auto. I can't speak for Carplay, but when I plug my phone into the USB it automatically pairs Bluetooth and wireless for Android Auto -The Search feature for radio stations is very fast and there are 3 banks for FM -The steering wheel remote does work well. It uses a Velcro strap to hold the mount in place, then remote itself just slides on or off. I would have loved a screw on connection that doesn't rotate when you press it, but for the price and all the things you get, this is good. -You can switch between modes by pressing the volume control knob on the stereo. -The "incoming" call audio is clear, so you can hear the people through the car stereo really good. Now for the CONS -The front part is TOO BIG and screws don't line up with a standard double din dash kit. If you have a really old car it comes with brackets that will work, but if you need a dash kit, you will have to do some modifications to get it to fit. I ended up using a soldering iron to poke some more holes in the plastic mount for my wife's 2006 cobalt to get it to fit. But I couldn't put on the front bezel that comes with the dash kit because the front part is too fat. I just left it off. I may try to sand it down to fit. -The wires are very thin. I used the 22-18 gauge crimp connectors and some of them still didn't make a good connection on the side for the wiring harness that came with the radio. -Call quality with built in mic is not good and it doesn't come with an external mic even though it has the ability to take a 3.5mm external mic. There is also an audible "ticking" noise that can be hear on the other end. -There is no way to switch which phone is connected wirelessly when using Android Auto / Carplay from the stereo. You have to either reset to factory default or turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on one phone. -If no Bluetooth is connected, it automatically enters pairing mode. This seems good but anyone could connect to your car and there is not an easy way to kick them off. -While using Carplay/ Android Auto, there is no easy way to switch modes from the stereo. If you want to get to the radio, you must press the apps button, then press the exit, then you can click radio. You can probably do this from the remote. -The display brightness didn't match the car brightness and the maps don't auto switch to night during the night time. So you would need to go through the long process of exiting android auto or Carplay to get to the brightness settings which is dangerous while driving. The "illumination" wire is connected properly and to the right place, but nothing on the radio changes when I dim the lights inside the car even though the rest of the dash does. -You can't listen to the Radio and use the phone link at the same time. For instance, I would like to be able to navigate and also have the radio playing in the background. It's either Carplay/Android Auto or Radio. Can't do both at the same time. All in all it's a good stereo. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. It's a good bang for buck. I know my CONS section was longer, but I just wanted to explain so that it may be useful to someone who wants to buy the stereo. I am very satisfied with the outcome. Also, I don't know if this counts as a con, but There is NO AM Radio, only FM. So if you listen to FM Radio. I didn't hook up the reverse cam "yet". Will probably get an external mic, and do both at the same time and report back. Just know if you get this that you will likely have to modify your dash kit to get it to fit. And if I would do this again, I would probably get the heat shrink, no crimp wire connectors that have solder in them that are a bit transparent. It was a pain to crimp the wiring harness. Also, a multimeter with a continuity setting is very helpful in troubleshooting issues and testing to see if the crimp is good. I only had one bad crimp, but was able to identify this fairly easy by checking the harness. But the manual tells you exactly which wires to check if you have issues so kudos to them for this detail. UPDATE July 19th 2024: I installed and external 3.5mm microphone and the reverse camera. The external microphone does seem to improve call audio quality. The sound coming through the speakers was always good, but on the other end, I struggled to hear my wife. I called her to test and she was able to hear me well... There is STILL a clicking a noise, on the other end, but at least we can have a functional phone call now. The rest of the review will be dedicated to the camera. It's a camera that comes with a budget stereo, so I didn't expect the world. I didn't expect much, but here is my experience. The instructions are pretty clear on what wire to hook up. There is a RCA yellow plug that plugs into the back of the stereo and the other end plugs into the camera with a convenience cable for running 12v from the reverse light to Reverse trigger cable. There is also a 12v power cable that plugs into the camera that with a red wire for 12v and a red and black wire for ground. The instructions states to hook up both red wires to the reverslight in the back and the red/black wire to ground. The convenience cable is too short to spice it into the reverse light positive connection so I spliced the red wire to the reverse cable from the included power cable then spliced the convenience cable into that after separating the red and black wires. I used 16 gauge T-Tap connectors and had some trouble because the wiring for the brake light is 16 gauge but the wiring for the power cable for the camera is 22 gauge so it didn't make good connection, so I had to strip it a little first before tapping. I used a license plate mount because I didn't want to drill into the plastic, although the included mount may have lined up perfectly with the screws for my license plate bulb. After everything is hooked up properly, switching into reverse, automatically powers on the camera and also switches the input to view the camera. I won't to a pro and cons for this section, I just want to give the information so people know what they are getting and exactly how it funrions. There are options on the stereo for adding and removing the reverse lines. The camera image is okay, but not the best. There is also a position of the image that has a static image of a car that seems like there are sensors in front and back. There are no sensors. This just takes up space and could have just been the actual image from the camera. Also, there is no way to have the camera on when you are not reversing and no way to switch to another input when you are reversing. There is a button on the included steering wheel remote that makes it seem like you can switch to the reverse cam and back to the stereo. The instructions state to hook both the convenience cable and the camera power cable to the reverse light so it will only have power when the car is in reverse. There is no way to calibrate the lines, they are either off or on. So there is no point trying to find a switched power source for the camera so it turns on with the car because there is no option to manually switch to the camera and back from the stereo or the remote. The sound do lower when switching into reverse which is a nice touch. There are LEDs that are always on if the camera has power so you really want to make sure the camera isn't on all the time. Also, some cameras don't require you to hook up the ground because they pass ground from the stereo. This is not one of them. The camera will not work if the ground is not hooked up. All in all, for a budget camera that comes with budget stereo, it's pretty good. Could be better but it could be A LOT worse. ... show more
