  • Barely enough motor speed to cut balsa wood.
This is my first time writing a product review, and I never thought that I would write a negative one. But there is a first time everything. So, here's my story... I glued together several layers of balsa wood, about 1/4" thick, and tried a cut. To my surprise the blade began to stutter; and and eventually halted before I finished. Dialing up the power to maximum made little difference. Same thing with adjusting the blade. The only way to finish was to feed the wood into the blade at a snails pace. I can only imagine the problems that I will experience with a sturdier wood. Very frustrating! I purchased the saw back in 2022, but due to Covid and a hole bunch of other issues, I didn't get around to using it until recently. So I can't return the thing. At the very least I would like to change out the motor to a more powerful one, but I don't know which one to buy. If anyone out there can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. ... show more

  • No real instructions are included
I am disappointed in the lack of instructions. There is a small one page insert with a picture of the parts, that’s it. Users refer to miter function. How? What is the grinder intended to do and how do I hook it up? Is the metal connection piece supposed to have a bend in it? There are washers. What for? All I understand is the blade and the protective plastic. I want to understand the whole baby saw. This shouldn’t be too much to ask. ... show more

  • Powerless
The biggest thing about this is it has one speed.... slow. I can't get thru a piece of soft wood without it stopping midcourse. Power of the motor isn't what I'd thought it should be. Personally I wish I would have gone with something different

  • I like it. Probably will need some upgrades.
The media could not be loaded. Very basic fit and finish, solid build. Accuracy depends a fair amount on the user. T slot miter has a little slop, and the fence is user set with wing nuts (not in a cam/clamp). I got this for cutting thin and small bits. It fits in a milk crate (easily). I cut into an oak stick (photo) about an inch square, and the engine did stall a few times: no surprise there. But with some back and forth, it got through it. I think that's it's limit, and would probably kill the motor if you did a lot of it. Though that would be an easy replacement ($10-15). Have a diablo blade on the way, so we'll see how that impacts the cut. Also, might see if there's a better/stronger motor available that will fit. Really, you're paying for the frame and the machining. I got this one specifically because you can raise and lower the blade without taking the top off. As it's a DC motor, it has an adapter (like laptop brick) which has different voltages that control the blade speed. I considered giving it 5 stars to counterbalance the poor reviews, but, no. Good value if you're comfortable tweaking. When I was researching getting something like this, I also came across more high end products: Byrnes Model Machines and MicroLux ($300 - 500). In terms of tools I have: from Festool to Bosch to no name brands. Diablo blade fits fine with bushing (that comes with the blade). Haven't used it yet, so no comparison there. It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002TUFAO. Video shows amount of slop on miter. ... show more

  • interesting tool, ok for the money
Have been using it for a few months. This machine is well made. Super easy to put it on a shelf and get it back on the table. Pros: well-made, decent power, cuts 1/2" and even 3/4" boards. Thicker boards - with turning on the other side, very compact easily stowed away, decent saw blade included cons: setting up the fence is a PAIN. The markings are silver on silver (seriously, how hard is it to make them black..) fence goes only on the left of the blade, not always convenient,, remember to set up the saw height BEFORE setting up the fence, because the fence may cover the lift screw hole (bad design decision!) If you are handy, and are not afraid to make simple modifications this is a nice useful machine. ... show more

... show more

  • well-made but room for improvement.
it cuts really nice, but needs a tuneup, the miter gauge doesn't slide easily and the rail is higher than the table surface,a workpiece tilts on it. which will interfere with a square cut. I may have to make my own rail. I'd rather have a plain 10 mm slot than the T-slot. I'd also prefer an option to buy a bigger table, maybe 18"x 18". (I'm going to make a table extension/cabinet from birch plywood.) The rip fence bolts do not slide easily in their slots. I plan to make a "speed crank" to raise or lower the blade height. ... show more
