Adapters did not fit well in my 2009 40 hp Mercury Bigfoot. Got about an 1/8 turn in but could not tighten and threads were an obvious mismatch. It did work well enough to pump in the gear oil but there as a lot of air in each stroke, maybe because of the poor fit.
