Features

  • Water-Parameter Friendly: UNS Controsand Morocco aquarium substrate is formulated to remain inert in freshwater and planted aquariums, helping maintain stable water parameters and providing a balanced environment for aquatic life.
  • Fine-Grained Reddish Sand: With an extra-fine grain size of 0.40.9 mm, this warm reddish fish tank sand adds natural depth and tone variation to aquascapes, complementing driftwood, stones, and vibrant green aquatic plants.
  • Versatile for Aquascaping: This fish tank substrate adapts to a variety of aquascaping styles from minimal nature setups to dense planted layouts suitable for large aquariums, small fish tanks, and compact setups.
  • For Shrimp and Gentle Bottom Species: The smooth texture of this sand substrate offers a gentle surface for shrimp and bottom-dwelling fish, allowing natural foraging and movement in freshwater aquariums.
  • Ready to Use: Pre-washed for convenience, UNS Controsand Morocco aquarium sand can be placed directly into your fish tank. A light rinse before setup helps remove residual fine particles and maintain water clarity.

  • Love the color, very clean, perfect granule size
Pattern Name: Bora Size: 8L
I researched what substrate I wanted to use for a while before deciding on this and I'm very pleased with it. It's "white" sand but it's a a little beige which looks more natural for this area. It's also course enough that it doesn't float around the water or get in the filter. I rinsed it per instructions, which was easy because it was very clean. One 8L bag was not enough to cover my 37gallong 30x15 tank to my desired depth of 2 inches. I ended up adding a soil layer underneath along the back 2/3rds, with the front being deeper sand. I'm planning on loaches or catfish, which need a soft substrate. I can't wait to see them dig around in it. ... show more

  • High quality
Pattern Name: Bora Size: 3L
The media could not be loaded. This stuff is just beautiful, pricey but it’s very high quality and doesn’t dirty up your tank, super easy to clean yuck out of the sand as well.

  • Beautiful Sand
Pattern Name: Pacifica Size: 3L
Was recommended Controsand from an aquascaper and couldn’t be more pleased. I used Morocco in my daughter’s tank (pictured) and Pacifica in mine. Both are beautiful and worth the price.

  • Expensive
Pattern Name: Bora Size: 3L
There's not much to say, the sand is excellent. There are no changes in the water parameters, no cloudiness, it looks extremely cool and hides debris perfectly. I used less than half for a 5-gallon tank. The only thing I don't like about it is the price.

  • Beautiful color!
Pattern Name: Bora Size: 8L
I bought the bora because I wanted the lightest color with my black background. It looks so great when the light is on! It does look darker when the light is off though. Sand was also very clean and took minimal rinsing.

  • Beautiful appearance and great consistency, but ridden with minerals and a constant TDS threat
Pattern Name: Mojave Size: 8L
The sand itself is beautiful and the consistency is awesome for scaleless bottom feeders, but it is so heavily packed with minerals that leach horribly and skyrocket TDS. This is especially bad due to the fact that I like to keep sensitive corydoras species. I had to consistently and systematically siphon the sand throughout the entire tank (across 4 tanks) and the amounts of gas and bubbles released into the water column didn't diminish until the 5th siphoning session. And that's WITH 5 30-50% water changes too. Even though the gas bubbles and murky waste disappeared the TDS continued to rise. It was so bad that I had to catch out all my fish from each aquarium just to swap the substrate out. I've love the Bora and Kona substrate from UNS, so I was surprised and confused when I started experiencing these issues. I gave this three stars because there are situations where high TDS and mineral content benefit fish. Like if you have extremely soft water and are trying to keep cichlids for example. Unfortunately, this wasn't the specific case for me. I wish that the company had truly emphasized the impact this substrate has on aquariums. ... show more
