This is a nice idea, but poorly made. The vice is designed to be locked in to any position, but when locked, the head still wobbles a bit. Enough that the item you are holding isn’t still which defeats the purpose when working with items that require precision. Given the pandemic, it is to much trouble to return, so I’ll deal with it. I don’t know if just this one item is defective, or it is the entire line. Just want to share my experience. Junk! It broke during my first use. I was sharpening a mower blade and the ball joint locking bar stripped and I cut my hand deep. Wish I could get a refund. But I dont want to mess with shipping it back. Junk dont buy!

I've had this exact same vise for almost 20 years now, it has been used many, many times and to be honest it still works flawlessly, much to my amazement. It is made from aluminum and it has a temporary screw mount base.....this isn't a bench mounted, forged steel vise for doing heavy duty work. Don't expect to put something in there and then beat the heck out of it or it will probably break. I've used it to cut lumber and pipes by hand, but I've always either held it or supported the material. It's fantastic for modest projects. If you need to do big boy work this isn't meant for that. ... show more
