  • Don't hesitate!! Buy it!!!
This background is amazing. Makes any tank look like a show piece. So real people will be amazed when they see it. I have a 75 gallon tank and it doesn't take up much room at all. At its largest spots it sticks out 5-6 inches. But that is ony two Spots and not taking up much room. It's looks crazy in the tank. So happy with my purchase. I couldn't seal it off completely with caulk keeping water from getting behind it and ended up adding holes for water flow behind it. There isn't much room behind to hide all filters and heaters (when putting flush against back but if you step out another inch or two you can. I didn't want to lose more tank space). See my pics. So happy with this purchase. I ended up buying matching rocks from them directly. Ill add the photos when I get them in the tank. Update: added a Rock package from universal rocks. Looks amazing. Very happy with my purchase ... show more

  • WASH BEFORE USE!
Im using this in my terrarium for my bearded dragon. He loves climbing on it. Im not giving 5 stars because it came warped in multiple areas. Took about 3 hours to get the edges nice and square using a blow torch and heavy items to weigh it down to help it form into place while it cools. Whatever material its made out of can take some serious heat and a open flame. Also spent a couple hours washing this thing in my shower. It was covered in a thin black film that doesnt come off skin to well. After two rinses on the high pressure setting i used a mild cleaner and a soft brush to help get into the pores a bit because i was still getting black stains on my fingers while handling. Im not sure if it could have been put in a fish tank. Im guessing it would make the first fill of water cloudy and possible kill the fish. MAKE SURE YOU WASH THE BACKGROUND A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE FITTING IT IN YOUR TANK. ESPECIALLY IN A TERRARIUM. ... show more

  • Looks great, has pin holes.
EDIT: SInce setting up my tank I have not been able to keep fish alive for long (almost a year since I set this up). My Corys seem to last the longest. All water parameters are fine. I have to believe it is the background causing the issue. I have driftwood in the tank as well which could be the issue but I would not think so. To be fair, I have not removed it and tried fish without it yet. I will report back once I do. I just wanted to warn others this may not be a good choice for a fish aquarium! Very sturdy and looks great in my tank. The only issue so far is that for a fish aquarium, you will have to find and silicon the pin holes that are throughout. I used a flashlight in the dark to find most but when I put water in the tank I still got water behind it. Since I have silicone this in my tank already I'm not sure what I can do to remedy this :( ... show more

  • Concerned about chemicals and toxins leaching out into aquarium
I would not use in aquariums. The paint and texture rubbed off easily. Also it smells very toxic even after multiple washes. It does not fit flush against the glass as several areas bow out, it will have to be glued to the glass with silicone and even then will not be flush all around. Also plan ahead for heater and filter placement as you may not have room on the back of the tank with this fake rock wall. I returned this item and instead painted the back of my 75 gallon aquarium with acrylic gloss paint and added stones and plants made for aquariums. ... show more

  • Very Nice Overall
In the past, I've made my own textured background with insulating foam and styrofoam faux rock pieces. This saves a ton of time and is worth the money. I knocked off a star because it has roughly a dozen pinholes that light from the window shines through, and the product is much more brown than the lovely grey that was pictured. I would have preferred grey for a rocky background. For the price, these issues should be corrected. ... show more

  • worth the money!
Absolutely amazing! I purchased the 48" background for my 55 gallon. Because it is much longer than the one in the photo, the outcroppings are different. It has a nice variety and looks very realistic. I have a middle brace and was able to get it into the aquarium pretty easily. I did silicon it in place which was easy. The have you tube videos with suggestions/tips. Both sides have reality sly flat sections that accommodate my canister filter. Although it is a little tricky with my aquarium canopy. The back side braces are where the filter should go. I've managed though and most folks don't use a canopy. I keep two musk turtles who love to hang out on the ledges and crawl up the back. They seem very happy and get around like little mountain climbers now. This was absolutely worth the money. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Amazing. I love it
Absolutely beautiful, even more so in person. I don't have my tank set up yet I'm still waiting to buy a stand but it fit in my aquarium almost perfectly and went in just fine even with the center brace. Directions say to wash excess paint/dust off before use. If u touch it much before hand it will come off on your fingers I just hope there's no problem with the color fading or coming off on down the road but even if it did it could be painted with aquarium safe spray paint. Love it ... show more

  • Worth every penny.
Amazing background. Don't silicone it...very unnecessary and hard. Start with an empty tank, put plenty of gravel in front to support the bottom and clip it from the top and that's all. This is the 48" 55 gallon background. If you have the same one, it comes in one piece...roll it up and tighten it with a belt, slip it in the tank, unbuckle the belt and unfold. This is an easy way to get it around the middle brace. ... show more
