I love my lightweight back ladder. Makes it manageable for this 60 something woman to crawl up and check on her solar panels and such. It was not hard to assemble or install. Sturdy and holds up well.

Easy to install - very detailed instruction, also have all needed tools inside. Matching the description and compatible with my car. I was concerned regarding the material since its look not sturdy but actually it hold up to 200 lbs with no issues.

I wanted a ladder to reach the crows nest I installed on our race trailer. I called the local camper dealers and they wanted between $300 and $1200 for the heavy gauge quality ladders that come on motor homes for roof access. That wasn’t an option. I found this on Amazon for less than half the price. Here are my thoughts after installing it and using it for an event: 1) this isn’t the straight ladder in the pictures. It is a box with the components that are in the “what’s in the box” photos. The connector included is a hinge. It can form a straight ladder but it is still in two pieces with a hinge. I didn’t realize that when I bought it because the photos show it a single straight piece. 2) it being a box of components makes it harder to install than you may anticipate. You will need sealant, a level, a tape measure, a saw to cut aluminum, a drill, and a 1/4” or 3/16” bit for metal, at a minimum. 3) you need to install all four of the pipe stanchion/standoffs or this will not be strong and will flex, even though the pictures show installs without this. Not all vehicles will have a strong backing to secure them to midway down. This is a challenge. It is imperative that the top be secured to something sturdy and many vehicles have a reinforced roof edge but a very weak roof decking. Plan on a way to overcome this. 4) this ladder is NARROW. I weigh 250 lbs and am comfortable with my weight on the ladder. I am a little uncomfortable when I’m ten feet in the air and this thing is less than 11” between the tubes. Get a ruler and look at what 11” is. It’s narrow. 5) it’s all aluminum, even the standoffs and steps. I was worried it would have plastic pieces at this price but even the hinges are aluminum. I do appreciate that. It is very, very light. The entire ladder weights maybe 15 lbs. 6) this was the absolute cheapest ladder I saw in my search, by half. I have to give them props for keeping me in my budget. 7) the advertised height is nonsense and would require the ladder to be assembled with the hinge/connector piece in between the uncut ladder sections. This would result in a 25” gap midway between rungs that are otherwise spaced around 12” apart. This is not safe and not practical for most people. As a result the ladder will be shorter than advertised and will need a step ladder to reach from the ground. 8) the included hardware is, for no clear reason, about a quarter inch too long and the pre drilled front to rear holes at the top will shred your hands where the machine screws protrude if you grab them as you pull yourself up. I am going to cut them off and replace the nuts with acorn nuts. Having the holes drilled side to side would help, as would just properly sizing the hardware. Also please note the included screws are not self drilling so they may not be the best choice for an easy install. And there is no sealant included to waterproof your penetrations to this must be added. I did my absolute best to install this level and even and my install is still slightly crooked. I am attaching it to a platform above a diagonal wall so it’s perhaps more tricky than the average install. You will need a way to cut the tube evenly and cleanly, and you will have to drill multiple holes in the tube for the hinge/connector between sections as well as for the vertical standoffs. Considering those shortcomings, I’m giving it 3/5 stars. If they improved the listing photos and included better and more appropriate hardware, I’d have given it 4/5 stars. If it was at least an inch wider and included a tube of caulk to seal the holes and an extra rung to achieve the advertised height, I would give it 5/5 stars at its price point. I do feel as though the 11” width is borderline just too small for adults to use.

An exquisite disappointment. This product requires the buyer to drill additional holes through quite narrow aluminum tubing in order to match up support posts to studs in the walls of an RV. Not only this, but you have to drill 4 additional screws through the same narrow aluminum tubing to install the swivel joints (in case your RV rear wall is angled and not flat). And, to this point, think about this. Drilling dozens of sheet metal screws though a wall & roof of a camper must be the worst idea I can imagine. It is never a good idea to drill holes into the roof of one's RV. 8 sheet metal screws are required just for the roof mounts. No, get a Lippert telescopic ladder that attaches to the RV's pre-installed Lippert Receiver! I admit, it was my fault for not reviewing this purchase more carefully. Never buy on Amazon late at night, tired. An expensive lesson learned!
