    • Good Audio, Design, and Functionality in an Affordable Soundbar System
I ordered the Ultimea 7.1 Virtual Sound Bar to pair with our decade old 65-inch Sharp basement television. The soundbar is to specifically replace an old Yamaha receiver and a pair of nearly antique Pioneer HPM 100s with a Polk center channel speaker. It’s primarily used by our grandkids who are old enough now to start questioning and making fun of the audio fidelity of this Frankenstein setup. To date, they nor I am disappointed with the virtual surround sound of this soundbar system. Set up was fairly straight forward as everything is clearly marked and there is an excellent user setup video included in the Amazon product description for this soundbar. My son and I watched and then followed the video setup instructions step by step—easy! The hardest part of the entire setup was getting at the optical audio cable port on the back of the TV which was hanging on the wall. The rest of the setup was pretty much plug-n-play. As to audio quality, I’ve been listening to music, movies, news shows, and watching the grandkids play their video games. The sound is far superior to what we had but isn’t exactly a top-shelf home theater experience either. The rear speakers need to be right behind your head—meaning like no more than 2 feet—to really hear their input. I’ve tried several placement options and they’re just undersized in comparison to the center and fronts in my opinion. Midrange audio is the sweet spot as you would imagine with speakers this size while high treble and bass get somewhat muffled. Think Fords and not Ferraris when comparing these speakers to the whole home audio speaker spectrum. They sound and work well when expectations are kept real and in line with their price point. Overall, I am very glad I ordered this sound bar system. I was more than dubious and my expectations were pretty low when I took a gamble and placed my order but rationalized they need only sound better than what they were replacing. They did so with flying colors, and I am quite satisfied with the audio, quality, function, design, and versatility that you get with this system from Ultimea. I recommend this system to those looking for a quality entry level system or those on a lean budget who want a lot for a little. I’d definitely order again. ... show more

I guess I shouldn’t expect too good of sound with an inexpensive unit like this, but I had high hopes. The set up is easy enough. There are a lot of cords, for the front speakers, subwoofer, and although the rear speakers are remotely connected to the front sound bar, they still need to be plugged into an outlet. Overall, the system works, but the sound sounds muffled, and sounds somewhat like the TV is wearing a mask. I will try to spend more for a more money to buy hopefully a better system. ... show more

It is important to set expectations when you are looking for a “stereo in a box” set and certainly when you are looking at an off-brand unit. With that covered, this unit does produce a good amount of sound even at low volumes and certainly rounds out the range compared to our TV speakers. The bass could be more but again, the subwoofer is the size of some home speakers on a hi-fi stereo unit so for the size and price, it does a great job. The unit is very easy to setup and use straight out of the box and it provides a good amount of options to connect your various devices and elements. For the money, it’s a quality purchase but again, set you expectations before you think about having a concert in your living room with this unit. ... show more
