    • Get it if you want true surround sound

This is the A60, it’s about $80 more than the A40, and it’s $80 well spent because it’s true surround sound I first bought the A40 because of the price, but I felt underwhelmed by the surround sound it had. I could hear everything going on in every speaker it had. So I upgraded to the A60, and the difference is night and day. I’m hearing the dialogue now on in the front speakers while atmosphere in music is going on in the rear speakers, and that was just a minute of testing it out. I’m sure there are better surround sound systems, that’ll give you a movie theater experience, but if you’re on a budget, and you want a real surround sound for your movies… I couldn’t recommend this more. ... show more

I was between giving this a four star or a five star review and if I could do half stars, I would probably go 4 1/2 for sure. But in the end I went with five simply because it delivers as you hope for a sound system to deliver at this level. I was a little bummed at first that it wasn’t just a sound bar, but more of a full surround system, which is not what I was really looking for. The small surround speakers that go behind you I ended up not even using because they put out so little sound and I don’t want the extra wires and extra speakers everywhere. That was probably the most disappointing part in that the extra speakers were pretty much useless. I also would prefer not have a sub included, but unfortunately you have to attach the sub to the sound bar and in the end it’s not the worst thing as far as space or wires. The sound bar itself has much better sound clarity than my TV which was why I wanted to originally get a sound bar because I couldn’t always clearly understand speaking parts from my TV speakers. I wouldn’t say these are remarkable sound but it’s still a very good sound quality and clarity for what you are paying for. Overall, given the level of sound system that this is and the sound quality that comes out of it, I will have to give it a five star because it delivers as I hoped in the end. Bonus points because the setup was very easy and the phone app is also pretty sharp in that it is only the things you really need to adjust and none of the extra bells and whistles which are usually unnecessary. The remote is also a nice touch because it allows you to very easily adjust the different levels. I’m still playing with the levels to find one that works as well as I want to for my sound needs, but the ability to customize is definitely there. ... show more

I've been needing a new soundbar for a while as there is a speaker failing in my current soundbar. When this Ultimea Aura A50 came available for $100, I wasn't expecting a lot. I had bought a refurbished Philips soundbar for about $60 maybe 7 years ago. Now, here's the rub. My TV is about the same age and it doesn't have an ARC or eARC port, so I'm using two remotes until I can also replace the TV. So for this review, I will ignore the fact that, in my situation, using the soundbar can at times be a pain. That is not the soundbar's fault. The unpacking and setup was simple. The cables are all plenty long. I like that the rear channel uses a bluetooth connection with cable only between the two rear speakers. Using an optical connection between the TV and soundbar was the best I could do with my current TV. I haven't yet explored any newer movies and their soundtracks to see if the audio features will even be supported using an optical connection. Listening to movies on satellite TV, prime time drama series, and a bit of music wherever I find it, the sound is so much better than I've been used to. I'm excited to see how it does with newer movies after I eventually upgrade my TV. I've been varying the bass between -4 and 0, using mostly the Music profile, and leaving Xupmix turned on. I haven't heard much of anything from the rear speakers yet, but that can wait for now. I still need to experiment with the subwoofer placement. In summary, WOW! If you’re shopping for a budget-friendly surround sound system, the ULTIMEA Aura A50 Pro is a compelling option. In its price class (~$100), it manages to deliver a wealth of features, solid audio performance, and flexible connectivity, making it an excellent “bang-for-your-buck” pick as long as you’re aware of its one notable compatibility caveat. One of the biggest advantages of the A50 Pro is that it isn’t just a “soundbar plus subwoofer”, it’s a full 5.1 sound system that supports Dolby Atmos in the $100 price range. It includes two wireless rear speakers plus a subwoofer, which helps create a more enveloping soundstage when compared to many standalone soundbars in the same price range. The mobile app is good and allows users to get the most out of the system. The one big caveat you absolutely should be aware of is that the ULTIMEA Aura A50 is not directly compatible (no profiles available) with the Amazon Fire TV Stick in the sense of “plug it in and expect to be able to control the power and volume.” That's not to say that you cannot control the power and volume from the Fire TV Stick control, just that you will have to use the eARC input on your TV and make sure that your TV is properly configured on your Fire TV Stick. In short, this system is one of the (if not the) best in its price range. If you can pick one up for $100 or less, I highly suggest that you do so. ... show more
