  • Dialog is clear and not garbled
Model: U2603
I needed a system where the dialog was clear and not sounding garbled. This system was it. Connected immediately. Extremely easy set up.

  • Great sound from a basic system.
I was between giving this a four star or a five star review and if I could do half stars, I would probably go 4 1/2 for sure. But in the end I went with five simply because it delivers as you hope for a sound system to deliver at this level. I was a little bummed at first that it wasn’t just a sound bar, but more of a full surround system, which is not what I was really looking for. The small surround speakers that go behind you I ended up not even using because they put out so little sound and I don’t want the extra wires and extra speakers everywhere. That was probably the most disappointing part in that the extra speakers were pretty much useless. I also would prefer not have a sub included, but unfortunately you have to attach the sub to the sound bar and in the end it’s not the worst thing as far as space or wires. The sound bar itself has much better sound clarity than my TV which was why I wanted to originally get a sound bar because I couldn’t always clearly understand speaking parts from my TV speakers. I wouldn’t say these are remarkable sound but it’s still a very good sound quality and clarity for what you are paying for. Overall, given the level of sound system that this is and the sound quality that comes out of it, I will have to give it a five star because it delivers as I hoped in the end. Bonus points because the setup was very easy and the phone app is also pretty sharp in that it is only the things you really need to adjust and none of the extra bells and whistles which are usually unnecessary. The remote is also a nice touch because it allows you to very easily adjust the different levels. I’m still playing with the levels to find one that works as well as I want to for my sound needs, but the ability to customize is definitely there. ... show more

  • Excellent for multimedia setup or small bedroom.
This is a really nice soundbar with an included passive subwoofer and dual rear channels. What's slick about the surround speakers is the fact that they don't require a wired connection to the soundbar. The right channel connects via bluetooth and then hooks to the left surround with a wire. This makes placement a lot easier since you don't need to run wires throughout the entire room. This is the third soundbar I've owned by Ultimea. Each tier of speakers is named after a Greek God or Godess. My first offering was the "Apollo" series, which ended up being best suited for music. I have it hooked to a record player in the back bedroom. My "Posiden" setup is the core of my home theater. This "Aura" is working very well as a multimedia speaker system. I frequently watch movies and play games on my Galaxy tablet out on the back porch when I'm not working on it or listening to music. The soundbar itself is pretty compact compared to the other ones. The sound is incedibly smooth and crisp. The mids are ever present, keeping dialog at the forefront, and the highs are just at the threshold of being exremely bright, without becoming shrill. Perfectly balanced. This has become a MASSIVE upgrade over the little bluetooth speaker I had been using for sound. Now for the sub. I'll be honest, I really wasn't expecting much out of a puny 4" subwoofer. I owned a Bose Acoustimass system back in the late 90's that was loaded with dual 5 1/4" subs and it never really impressed me, especially for the price. This little fellow, however, is a BEAST! I couldn't believe how much bass it pumped out! Design is everything and Ultimea did their homework well. This is a downward firing design in a vented box. The rear-facing port is tuned perfectly for this setup. The dimentions of the box are roughly 7 3/4"L x 5 5/8"W x 8"H and it literally puts out more low end than my 10" Sony that I've been using in the living room for years. Placement is also key, and if you're looking to squeeze every last bit of bottom end out of this setup, put the sub close to a wall, or better yet, in a corner, with the port facing the wall. Be forwarned, this may make it a little boomy, though. The entire setup is very aesthetically pleasing and blends in seamlessly with my electronics. They kept it simple for connections. Your only options are HDMI, USB, optical, and Bluetooth. I just connect my tablet via Bluetooth. It pairs right up every time. Music sounds just as good as movies. There are preset eq curves based on what you're listening to at the moment, as well, to simplify things. Of course, you have complete control and are able to adjust bass, mid, and high to your liking. This is a complete 5.1 Dolby Atmos system and I'm most impressed. It really sounds better than my Sony reciever. Excellent value for the price. My only complaint is the surround speakers aren't very loud. The right channel requires AC power, so it must have a tiny amp inside of it. I can hear them ok when they're sitting directly in front of me (they're supposed to be rear surrounds, but I was just demoing the setup at this point). According to the manual, you're supposed to be roughly twice the distance from the soundbar as you are from the rear surrounds. This placement just didn't work in my situation, so YMMV. I don't think I'm going to continue using them. This will exceed my needs with just the soundbar and subwoofer. I also find it odd that between the three products I own from this company, none of the connections are compatable with each other. I would have liked to be able to swap out subs or try the surrounds in the living room with my Posiden. Maybe they're compatable within each product line? Overall, I'm still very pleased in the performance of this compact setup. Well worth the price. Giving it a solid 4 stars. ... show more

  • Very impressive, especially for the price
I've been needing a new soundbar for a while as there is a speaker failing in my current soundbar. When this Ultimea Aura A50 came available for $100, I wasn't expecting a lot. I had bought a refurbished Philips soundbar for about $60 maybe 7 years ago. Now, here's the rub. My TV is about the same age and it doesn't have an ARC or eARC port, so I'm using two remotes until I can also replace the TV. So for this review, I will ignore the fact that, in my situation, using the soundbar can at times be a pain. That is not the soundbar's fault. The unpacking and setup was simple. The cables are all plenty long. I like that the rear channel uses a bluetooth connection with cable only between the two rear speakers. Using an optical connection between the TV and soundbar was the best I could do with my current TV. I haven't yet explored any newer movies and their soundtracks to see if the audio features will even be supported using an optical connection. Listening to movies on satellite TV, prime time drama series, and a bit of music wherever I find it, the sound is so much better than I've been used to. I'm excited to see how it does with newer movies after I eventually upgrade my TV. I've been varying the bass between -4 and 0, using mostly the Music profile, and leaving Xupmix turned on. I haven't heard much of anything from the rear speakers yet, but that can wait for now. I still need to experiment with the subwoofer placement. In summary, WOW! This relatively inexpensive soundbar has me impressed. ... show more
