Love these stands. They are perfect for the Ulanzi 120V plus the 30mm SmallRig Soft boxes. They're good for everything else...not necessarily anything heavier imho. However- I wish the legs locked in place when out. Also, one of them was defective. The notch was incorrectly formed and they worked for one shoot with the 120V, but the next time, the leg actually came undone and fell on a guest, along with the 120 and soft box. It was very embarrassing. They were ok and even though it the soft box hit the guy in the face, he was nice about it. ------------------------- Edit. Changed it to a five star. Ulanzi support contacted me directly and offered a replacement. Great job guys! Top Notch Customer service! BTW- I love these stands. They are the perfect mix between strong, tall, light-weight and portable. I contacted Ulanzi for a replacement (it was about two months past purchase) and they were not helpful...said I needed to go through Amazon. But I'm in a loop as amazon will not help. No return - just a link to Ulanzi website. It's sad. I'm going to give these away and get some Cheetah Stands.

It is really too soon for me to write a review. I've had mine for about 3 weeks but I use my gear professionally more than most people and I'm just afraid I'll forget to leave a review later. So, after 3 weeks of almost daily use, I have to say that so far, this stand is everything I wanted. I wanted something like this that was light weight, but also opened WIDE so that it had a more stable base. My shoots are in public places with very little prep due to the nature of my profession. My lights get bumped either by me, the talent or the public. The wide base gives me a little more piece of mind while maintaining portability. So far these have held up spectacularly. I also love how tall they are. I have the 8' version. I hang an Amaran 60x S from the top of mine with a v-mount battery and I am happy with the stability. Yes, it can still get knocked over, but the ability to extend the base wide gives me a bit more piece of mind. I intend to give it 2 more weeks and if I'm still happy I'll order another. Edited to add: FOUR MONTHS of daily use and still going strong! Ordering a second one!

I'm a professional photographer who does a lot of location work with dancers outside of the studio. I was looking for a light stand that is considerably lighter than taking c-stands outdoors, yet stable enough that I can feel confident putting a 5.5lb studio strobe and a lightweight modifier on it without great trepidation that it will fall over or get swept off the ground by a gust of wind. I know that's a big ask. This stand is reasonably stable, but doesn't give one the same type of confidence as one would have mounting expensive lighting gear on a c-stand weighted down by a sand bag. One of the features that I like about the stand is that it has a little hook under it to secure the stand to a camera or lighting gear pack to keep it from falling over. Even though the lightweight tubing results in some swaying of heavier lighting gear when extended beyond 6 ft in height, knowing that the stand is securely weighted down by one of my packs gives me the confidence to use it in still to light wind conditions. For those of you with speed lights or some of the newer lightweight 100-200 watt strobes, you'll find the stand quite satisfactory. The stand does fold up to a fairly compact form, which makes it easy to take on a location shoot. Although I would consider it a decent value for the money, that should not be the criteria one uses for the purchase if you are putting your investment in expensive lighting gear on top of this stand or any other. The build quality is average. I take very good care of my equipment, so I expect the stand should last a long time. Nevertheless, many of the key components are plastic, and so there durability remains to be seen. In conclusion, if you are careful with the stand and utilize the center hook to secure it to something that will act as an "anchor" for your lighting gear, you should be fine with this stand for locations shoots where portability is important.

I needed a last-minute replacement stand for a teleprompter that would fit in a tight space and bought this due to overnight delivery. I'm pleasantly surprised, it's much beefier than I expected and the clip for a sandbag is a nice pro touch. The click points for the legs help in getting a true vertical if the floor is level, another nice touch. The legs being low means you can save some space at the cost of some stability, but my need isn't outdoor use so that works for me.

Legs don’t lock into place. Can only use with the legs flat or at a about a 10 degree angle making it easy to tip over, and it did, knocking down my expensive strobe light.

Compact and easy to setup. Only 2ft collapsed and more than eight feet of height is useful for more than just lights. The extendable feet sections can be used to offset a front heavy light so less worry of tipping over. Felt sturdy with quality workmanship. Fair price for a highly functional stand.

Build feels solid. Definitely more stable than the generic design you find on this site. The locks are secure. It tried setting it up and applied a bit of my weight to is and it did not slide down like my other light stand. It also folds into a smaller size.
