I recently picked up this 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner to use in both my shed and garage. My shed is 10x12 feet, fully insulated, and has stayed cool with a window unit in the past. My garage is much larger but also fully insulated, with sheet rock and ceiling fans. This unit significantly improved comfort levels in both spaces. In the shed, I waited until the temperature reached 90°F and then tested the unit. Within about 3 hours, it had reduced the temperature by 10°F. As the direct sunlight diminished, the unit cooled the shed even more effectively. Starting the unit early in the morning the next day, it maintained a comfortable temperature throughout the day. The bigger test was in the garage. I used the third stall to vent the unit and placed barriers to cover the areas not covered by the vent, ensuring decent protection from outside temperatures. When I started, it was close to 90°F outside, and the garage was at 86°F. The unit reduced the temperature by approximately 3°F per hour. As the direct sunlight on the garage diminished around 7:00 p.m., the temperatures dropped more rapidly. Despite the 90% humidity outside, the unit made the garage feel much cooler than the high 70s displayed on the temperature gauge, effectively removing humidity from the air and bringing it down to around 30%. I also tested the power consumption, and the unit consumes an average of 900 watts continuously. This is fairly efficient given the significant cooling it provides in larger spaces. This is a great unit. My only concern is the moving louver, which helps dissipate the air from the unit. I worry it might wear out over time. There is no indication of this happening yet, but it's something I'm keeping an eye on. Additionally, the vent part where the tube comes out arrived broken. There was no visible damage to the packaging, so it must have happened somewhere along the way. Fortunately, this hasn't hindered its usability. Overall, I'm very happy with this air conditioner. It might be a stretch to cool my large garage, but it does the trick. My garage is well-insulated, so once it's cool, it stays cool. This 12,000 BTU unit did a great job bringing the temperature down. I have no doubt it would maintain comfortable temperatures if started early in the day as the outside temperatures rise. Pros: - Effective cooling in both shed and garage - Significant humidity reduction - Maintains comfortable temperatures in well-insulated spaces - Efficient power consumption at 900 watts Cons: - Concern about the durability of the moving louver - Vent part arrived broken but still usable

This unit never cooled as it should have, easy to install. The heater has never worked correctly either. Just blows cold air.

Ok, first off, the BTU rating of this is misleading. The real value of it if comparing to a Window AC unit is 8150 BTU which is the SACC rating. This rating take into account the losses incurred by using the non-insulated hose for heat gain through that hose and other adjustments for having the components all in the house. Also, keep in mind that heating with this is NOT effective when the outside temperatures are low. You will supplimental heat source when the outside is 45 or under. So, the unit comes with a window vent kit, but the problem is that vent kit is only good for an opening up to 48 inches. If your opening is larger, it will not work!! My windows are 60 inches, so I had to go out and buy a different window kit since they do not offer extensions for this one. The unit itself is done well and the cord is long enough for most areas. One thing that is very different from the product page video is they do NOT show the hose connection that is required for AC or for Heat. That hose makes this less than the easy to move and put anywhere that they show. You need to be close (within 2 feet) of the adapter put into your window to exhaust air through. If you move it, remember you also need to remove the adapter from your window! so, a bit more involved than they show. For this to work correctly, you need to have a level floor for it. So, if your thought is to put it out in a sun room conversion of your patio, check to see if the floor is level!! Most floors in a converted patio are sloped. This needs to be level for water accumulation (condensation from cooling the air) and also if you use this in a dehumidifier mode. Instructions are fairly clear. Noise level is reasonable. Remote works as expected. A reminder, this unit will draw upwards of 10 amps when starting up the compressor. Most outlets are rated for 15 amps. So, check your breaker for the. Plug you want to use and ensure you do not have any other heavy current users on it. I think a window unit would be more efficient, but this would work well for rentals or for where HOA issues might prohibit a window unit.
