Only Reason this isn’t 5 stars is the reel they put onto the pole is not great. It’s not worth the extra $40 dollars for the combo, just put that toward a better reel. The rod is great, and the medium action rod works great for any size fish from tiny minnows to 10 pound carp. I’m sure it could handle bigger, just haven’t gotten there yet. The pole is very sensitive, seems very sturdy, and the 2 piece connection stays in place and works perfect. The reel holder is also very easy to use and isn’t going anywhere. I have this paired with a 3000 size okuma spinning reel, so far so good. The Abu Garcia broke after a few uses. ... show more

I did very little research and bought this for my husband for a fishing trip because the guys on reddit said it's a great combo for trout fishing. Worked out really well for him and it's really nice quality for the price.

I really enjoy the rod. I wish i could use it more. Its a bit expensive even though this is the cheapest i found it $100 is high. That being said it is all i require in a fishing rod of medium light weight. I caught a couple 3 and 4 pound bass with it. Its light enough to really work the bait's and heavy enough to pull in pike. I bet you could catch big muskeyon it without it breaking. I know it'll catch 3' pike. I hope i discover if it can bring in a muskey. Ill let you know if i do. ... show more

I have owned a few Ugly Stick gx2, pro light, pro elites and have been very happy with them. This rod is not the same caliber while I like the color the rods isn’t sensitive at all, and the thumb screw gets loose. While casting the rod will rotate in my hand which the reel seat clamp comes loose as well. Very disappointing. ... show more
