Short and sweet this is one of the best rods that I have owned. I've owned a Saint Croix rod which I love as well however dollar per dollar Ugly Stik has been where I've always returned. The carbon series provides you with a custom feel combined with that unmistakable Ugly Stik value. Also while the name says ugly this is a beautiful rod. I combined it with the Okuma Trio BF40 and two BF30's (I have 3 rods) and have tackled larger fish than you would have thought on that size rig. Now nothing is perfect and I have one complaint, this being that the finish on the rod tends to be easily rubbed off through regular use compared to previous generations of ugly stick. I haven't encountered the problems with the rod hardware that I've seen posted elsewhere, Then again my rods are relatively new, but if past experience is any indicator these rods should last through the 7 year warranty that they promise. All in all I wouldn't change a thing, these are my go to rods and i intend to stick with them, hopefully they come out with larger sizes so that I can fish for larger quarry. ... show more

This rod is light! VERY light! Almost to the point that you really look close to make sure it's not made with cheap parts from wherever. I haven't used it on the water yet but I'm sure since it's sporting the ugly stik logo it's almost indistructable. The package it came in was just a cardboard sheet and it had tears and it had gone through the postal service so I'm sure they weren't "gentle" with it but I unwrapped it expecting the worse and not even one guide was bent out of position. So I'm impressed so far, I'm sure it won't disappoint where it counts. OK it's been a while and I've used this rod... light as a feather and tough as nails! Yes the ring on the handle cover came loose on the first trip but some gorilla glue later... I love this rod ... show more

The new carbon Ugly Sticks are the lightest rods they have ever made. They seem to be powerful and sturdy. The one piece tough guides are great for saltwater use. Not sure about durability, only time will tell. Very pleased to this point.

Good looking rod. Sensitivity seems fine. The biggest bass I’ve caught with it so far is a two and a quarter and it handles them nicely. The reason I’m giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is the rod is not perfectly straight with a little bow to the left and that bugs me. Good finish. This makes my second carbon rod so I think it’s a good value. ... show more
