  • 3x zoom, metal housing, larger than regular G3
The UVC G3 Pro is the upgraded version of the UVC G3 in the Ubiquiti line of Unifi Video products. I won't go into the setup details, but it was found and adopted by my current Unifi NVR immediately, just like their other cameras. (These cameras require Unifi Video to run, which is a free download from Ubiquiti and they can operate in standalone mode or you can connect them to a physical server/NVR.) This POE camera can be mounted indoors and out, has built in IR for night time viewing and records in 1080p@ 30fps. Ubiquiti claims the UVC G3 Pro has a roughly 15% improvement in night time viewing over the standard UVC G3, even if you have the G3 equipped with the optional LED ring. I haven't been able to test this yet, but I will edit my review if I find otherwise. On this note, the optional LED ring will not fit the Pro model. The UVC-G3 Pro has a few other key improvements. One of the biggest features is the Pro offers a 3x optical zoom, controllable from the software and Unifi video app. There's no noticeable loss of quality when zoomed in, and this is a nice feature to have since Ubiquiti does not offer a PTZ camera. It also has a metal body compared to the plastic housing of the regular G3, and it is a bit heavier and quite a bit larger as well. I also noticed the rubber grommet they include inside the camera to keep water out has been improved and I like it a lot. To be fair I have never had issues with water getting past the old grommet, but they improved it anyway. Now when you have your cable coming out of the base mount for termination and you push the slack back into the wall so you can mount the camera, the grommet will stay securely put right up against the camera body to ensure a good seal. Before you had to remove the camera mount after pushing the cable in as far as you could and then try to push the grommet back into place to get that seal. The Pro is quite a bit more expensive than the standard G3 at this time, so if you need the 3x zoom and the claimed benefit of much improved night vision then go for the Pro. Otherwise you'll probably be just as happy with the standard G3. Most important to note is that unlike some of their other products, a POE injector is not included, so you must have a POE+ switch to power it (standard POE switches will not work). Lastly, someone asked if you could remove a standard G3 and leave the base mount in place and attach the new G3 Pro on the old base. Unfortunately the answer is no. Not only is the design different and the standard base will not work with the G3 Pro, but the G3 Pro base is actually wider; you can use one of the original screw holes where the standard base was mounted, but you'll have to spin the base a bit and put a new hole in to accommodate the 2nd screw. Kind of a pain, but that's what it is. All in all I like this camera, and they are still a good value for a quality security camera. ... show more

  • Big Camera That's Pretty Expensive
I bought this camera about 2 months ago to hang on the front of my barn and to go with the 4 other Ubiquiti cameras I'm already using(2 domes 2G3). This camera is MUCH larger than the standard G3 and it uses a different mount as well. I power the camera using a POE module that I bought here on Amazon(BV-Tech) over about 100ft of Ethernet cable which works well and the camera is stable. With the camera mount up high on the front of the barn the field of view is very large. Right now I'm not using the zoom feature at all but I might just to see if it will improve/optimize the setup. The picture quality looks great during the day but I have not had a chance to test the night vision yet. Mounting is simple with two screws and in my case a hole drilled through the wall to run the cable which can be completely contained within the camera mount. The aiming of the camera is done exactly the same as with the std G3 and there is a wrench included to use to tighten the mount once you get it aimed just right. I had my wife monitor the live stream from the camera on a laptop computer while I made adjustments. The microphone on the camera is sensitive too. My wife could hear me through the laptop speakers easily when we were talking back and forth. Time will tell how this camera holds up but going by my experience with my other Ubiquiti cameras I think it'll be around for a while. ... show more

  • Super
The quality of the camera its premium build quality. Solid metal, heavy. Nice. The quality of the image is very good. Not a 4K. But looks like a high definition tv. If your mount is tight and your base is good it’s very strong. I wish it was a dome camera, they look more professional to me. But for what it is it’s pretty great. ... show more

  • Camera does not work. Ubiquity will not warranty item
I finally got around to installing the camera that I purchased less than a year ago. Return window is now closed. Unfortunately it does not work. Image is super blurry, camera heats up excessively, and lenses fogs up. Ubiquity denied my warranty claim because this seller is not a authorized dealer. Camera mac address also does not populate on Ubiquity's system which either means is s knock off or something worse. Very disappointed. ... show more

  • Color and image quality is hit or miss.
Everything is great about these except 2 things: 1) the color and image quality varies from camera to camera. I bought 2 of the same and the image is not as good on one of them. 2) UniFi still doesn't work with the home automation services and won't display to a TV.

  • Great Camera with Great Software
The picture quality of this camera is just awesome. I've paired three of them with the Ubiquity Cloud Key 2 Plus and I couldn't be happier. I can use the UniFi Protect app to do things like set the motion detection space and sensitivity, adjust the zoom and picture, as well as scrub back and forth through the video. It shows when there was motion detection in the scrubbing bar so it's easy to hop to the interesting bits. The POE single cord was exactly what I needed for my setup, as when I built my house I had the electrician install cat5e to the three locations I wanted the cameras at. One of the things I like best about the system is that the footage is stored locally on the Cloud Key 2 Plus, so I'm not worried about the footage being on some other companies hard drives. Through the app I can still access the cameras while away from home, their servers basically just provide a proxy. Overall I couldn't possibly be happier with the cameras. ... show more

  • Great Night Vision
Purchased this for the reviews on the night vision capability.. I actually ended up turning off the IR LEDs because it reduces false motion triggers from dust, rain, and mist. The night vision is so great that LEDs don’t even need to be on if you have street lighting. It’s a great camera but a bit overkill if you don’t need the optical zoom or you have adequate lighting. Considering adding a second one or maybe a G3 instead for a darker area. Either way.. you get what you pay for and it’s a quality surveillance camera. ... show more
