I'm trying this out on one of our two return air vents. Meanwhile, I'll keep using the disposable paper filters in the larger return air vent. Pros: - Not throwing away filters every few months - Easy to wash and reuse - Sturdy construction - Fits perfectly in my 14" x 30" opening. (I've had some paper filters be slightly too large, requiring scrunching the corners to get them in) Cons: - Peeling the blue plastic protective coating off the aluminum frame was a pain. Maybe I should have just left it on, but I know it's meant to be removed on all other items that have it. - Not as high a MERV rating for allergens and finer particles. Overall, very pleased with the filter. Paper filters recommend replacing every 3 months. This one you just wash off, dry, and re-install. ... show more
