This ac does cool and the u-shaped design is great for not taking up half the window. It definitely won't cool more than 450 Sq feet. The biggest issue is the drain for the unit is on the inside of the house, so be sure to have a large bucket for draining. It is quiet except occasionally or makes a rattling sound that shakes the wall. I would recommend buying a different brand and pay a little more. Update 7/26/25 exactly a month later. This ac quit cooling. These units are garbage DO NOT PURCHASE DONT GET SCREWED WHERE IS TOO LATE TOO RETURN

I hate the noise of air conditioners, and installing a window unit in my house requires two flights of stairs. I decided to invest in this one because of its claims about being light, easy to Install, and quiet. 1. At 61 lbs, it is not light. It weighs a bit more than the 10-yo unit I was replacing. 2. It is easy to install, but the parts it comes with don’t account for the ridges that energy efficiency windows have. The nifty foam inserts shown only partially cover the gap, so I needed to improvise something with wood and duct tape to keep the heat and bugs out. 3. It is LOUDER than my 10-yo unit. There’s a ‘quiet’ setting but that still clicks on and emits a deep rumble. It wakes me up every night. Honestly, this is probably good for my electricity bill since I skip it as much as I can. The label says to contact the company instead of returning through amazon, so I will, but I am also. It excited for uninstalling it or transporting it anywhere so I may just put it in another room. UPDATE: it got even louder. And the control panel glows bright enough to keep the room lit. I started a return through amazon but the instructions said I had to have the original packing materials, which I didn’t. I tried to contact the company but they didn’t respond to messages and the email address on their website is invalid. So many sleepless nights. I’ve been dealing with the heat rather than having to listen to a jet engine in my bedroom.

Good: quiet, can still see through window, and easy install as long as you can easily get to the outside of the window where you are installing it Bad: can’t easily install unless you can reach outside the window, DRAINS INDOORS ONLY. This means either you must have a bucket constantly there and keep the drain open OR open the drain regularly with a bucket ready to catch the water. I don’t love keeping a bucket on the floor all the time. I will attempt to call the company and see if there is a way to get it to drain outside, because I do see a drain hole.

Does not cool as advertised. Does lower temperature of room after awhile but slowly. Do not expect to come home and turn this unit on and have a 300 sq ft room cool in 30 minutes. Hours later yes but not below 76 degrees.

DO NOT get this product if you're placing it in an attic with a roof directly below the window. It's designed to hang off the window sill but you can get it into the correct position when there's a roof blocking you below.
