  • Excellent Inspection Tool Opens Many Possibilities
This Teslong TD450S Articulating Borescope really impressed me. The design is impressive, and the quality seems top-notch. There are some things a mechanic or homeowner may have to deal with that can be helped immeasurably with a quality borescope. For example, I had a ‘possibly’ broken engine mount in my car that simply could not be seen from above. Should I commit to a challenging repair job without being sure if it was broken? With the borescope set up, I was able to gently rev the engine (with the brake on) and actually see the mount separate under load. I could now proceed with confidence. SOME OF THE MANY THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS UNIT: * Great image quality, both on the integrated screen, and on the saved images and videos. * Microphone in the probe records onto the video (or can be heard live, but faintly from the control unit), which can be very helpful to find where that clicking is coming from, for example. * The extensive controls are all easily at hand on the main body while in use. * The claimed OPTIMAL focus range is .6 to ~ 4 inches, but I found that even looking across a room gave a pretty sharp image. * The articulating tip is just great, and adds tremendous versatility. * Great (fairly large) protective hard case for easy storage. * The probe has a claimed IP67 rating, good for submersion 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes. Great for plumbing inspections. * I like that it is a self contained unit (no app or device needed), and has a rechargeable battery good for a claimed 4-5 hours of continuous use (battery meter indicator on display screen). A FEW THINGS TO BE AWARE OF: * Navigation: similar to other borescopes I have used, the orientation of the image, and the maneuvering of the probe is a bit of a challenge. Is ‘up’ on the screen really looking down, or left, or right (or some weird angle in-between)? Where AM I looking, exactly? It can be very confusing. And every time one bends the probe to a different angle, or twists it past an obstacle, it will change the orientation of the image. I wish the device had some kind of digital image rotation so ‘up’ on the screen would correspond to the user’s ‘up’. It would make it so much easier to use, manipulate, and interpret. * The 5’ semi-rigid probe is both a plus and a minus. It is rather stiff, and takes some planning and custom-bending to get it where you want it. Again, this is just the nature of these things, I think, as opposed to a criticism of this particular product. * The 8.5 mm probe diameter, while reasonably small, will be a natural limit on where the probe can access. CONCLUSION: I think this is a really well designed, well made professional quality tool. I am very happy to have it in my toolbox for those situations where nothing else will do, really. ... show more

  • Game changing tool for me.
The media could not be loaded. Now that I have one I regret not having purchased one previously. That being said, I have nothing to compare it to so it's borderline magic to me. The case that this comes in is nice and firm providing the kind of protection I think a tool like this should have. It's large enough to fit everything comfortably inside and without having to put serious bends in the cable. The borescope itself it easy to hold and after a quick breeze through the instructions, really simple to operate. I appreciate that everything I need was included including well documented instructions, a protective cap for the light and camera and of course a charging cable. I really, really like that this doesn't operate using removeable batteries opting for an internal rechargeable cell instead. I was concerned before getting it about making adjustments because of some of the other comments I'd read about not getting it to flex as advertised but you hear my commentary regarding that concern, and see a demo of course, in my video. Overall, for me anyway, this is going to be a game changer when it comes to viewing areas that I wouldn't normally have access to, or even areas that I might have access to but this will make it so much more convenient. This particular tool, from this brand seems to be quite well designed and well thought out. I think that the price, especially with the coupon that is currently offered, make it a bit of a bargain, and it seems to be quite well made feeling solid in hand and using what feel and look to be quality materials. ... show more

  • Pretty good
So I've tried a few more scopes here lately. This one was purchased specifically because of the articulation to it and it is handy. It works. So here's a couple things. It's not as small or small diameter as some of the others. It is not as flexible as you would think in the quality's. Not quite there but generally speaking it is pretty good so it flexes. How do I say that it moves a little bit as it curves around things? If that makes sense so as you push it through something. In one case I used it in an exhaust pipe to see what the burning smell coming out of the muffler was and I found some grass in there. But as a curved through the piping the head wants to move a little bit and wants to curve. Must be something to do with the way it pulls on it so you have to correct for that. And then to since it only moves two directions to go the other way you have to turn the whole unit and then you can curve the head to look to the side. So that's a little bit of an issue. It's not insurmountable though. Generally, I'm pleased with it. It could use a couple of improvements, but in general it is much handier than a non-articulating one ... show more

  • a good endoscope from a trustworthy brand.
This could be a bit of a premature review, as I've only tested this one once, but I've had several other endoscopes from this brand, all of which turned out to be great and durable over the years. Still, I will update my review if this one fails me unexpectedly. The design of this borescope makes it very easy to use compared to others with no handle or a small screen. The clear picture quality lets you look where you cannot normally see..While the functions are simple and quite easy to operate, it still takes a bit of time to get used to how to maneuver the borescope, but once you get it, it's quite easy to operate efficiently as well. By the way, if you have never tried this type of tool before, this is something you didn't know you needed for your house. Trust me! It could save quite a bit of money because you might be able to find the issue without calling for help (like paying a plumber, etc.). ... show more
