    • Compact & good for small projects, but struggles with any bulk
This sewing machine is best for small, quick projects, or if traveling by car and needing a little emergency sewing machine. I just used this for sewing a pillowcase for a small lumbar pillow, and it wasn’t the best experience, but I think the machine would be fine in a pinch. I like that it has three needle positions each with 13 different stitches, plus the ability to make button holes. It has a nice built-in light and the expansion table is great. I would recommend adding a sticky magnetic strip for holding pins. I was not impressed with how the machine handles thicker fabrics. I was trying to sew a ruffle on one end of a pillowcase that has a single fold hem, and the machine struggled with 3 to 4 layers of translucent 100% cotton fabric. Because of the ruffle, there were a few spots that had 4 layers, and that was a problem for the machine. My stitches came out ugly and the needle became unthreaded several times. The other thing I don’t love, is that the foot pedal really only has one speed: on. If you step on it very slowly, the needle will start to move very slowly, but you can’t go incrementally between slow and fully on. If it is possible, then it was difficult to do since the pedal is small. The machine comes with white thread in it ready to go, which is what I needed for the pillowcase, but the instructions aren’t clear for when I do want to change the thread and bobbin. There are pictures, but it would have been helpful if the instructions were also written with more detail and without typos. As is, it may be challenging for someone who has never used a sewing machine before. Overall, this is a fine choice for quick, simple projects if size is a major factor. I am very happy with how compact it is. It took me no time at all to sew the body of the pillowcase, and it reverses pretty well. It just wasn’t a good choice for somewhat thicker materials, like adding a ruffle. ... show more

    • Great little sewing machine for beginners
I am currently learning how to sew. I already had a regular sewing machine that uses one needle and found that a lot of clothing designs required double seams. So I decided to give this machine a try. It took me a little while to learn how to use it, but I think it is a really helpful machine to have if you like sewing. First of all, I like that it is very compact. It is small and doesn’t take up a lot of room on my table. I like the extension table that easily attaches to the machine and provides a larger area to work with. I noticed that my seams are much straighter when I use this table. The machine also comes already prethreaded, so I was able to try the different stitches right away, without having to figure out how to thread it first. There is a kit included as well with a nice collection of treads of different colors and little tools that are commonly used in sewing. Overall, I find that this machine is not very difficult to learn and use for beginners. It provides more options for creativity. I think it offers a lot of value for the price. ... show more
