  • Better than expected and way better than the others we've owned!
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
It's quiet and has to be for the bedroom. Backlit display on the remote UV bacteria killer, easy to assemble, the slat for the window goes all the way up and is completely adjustable. This has a lot of power and shuts down when not cooling where the other unit we replaced would still hum while turning on and off. This just got off and in sleep mode, it's even quieter because you can't here the pump turning on and off like the last one. We've owned a number of these things (8) and this has been the best by far. Excellent air flow, cooling capacity, rolls better than any other and is no larger in size than the one it replaced, which went to the bonus room. Really happy with this. ... show more

  • Should have known :(
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
I have had a Honeywell A/C unit rated for 450 sq feet for about 3 years. It has worked fine, but as I have a 500 sq ft apartment I decided to try to upgrade to get a cooler environment. I THOROUGHLY researched all of my options. As I have been experiencing allergies, I was excited to find the UV light filter on this model. I looked for other brands with this feature to compare, but all others were nearly twice the price/had a much higher cooling capacity than I needed. After much deliberating, I bought this unit rated for 600 sq feet thinking it would surely cool my small studio apartment. I was wrong Installation was easy enough and went very quickly, but that is where the ease ended. I read the manual and tried to get the unit working, but discovered a few of the buttons on the remote do not even do anything, and the touch screen style buttons are very finicky and have multiple functions—meaning if it interprets one press as two presses, you are now stuck in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit rather than just switching to fan mode. Not too big of an issue as I keep it in air conditioning mode exclusively. However, I did expect that the air conditioning would work better. I pressed the “turbo” mode on the remote (which is supposed to turn all functions to max in order to cool the room as quickly as possible). It was on turbo for three days straight and never hit the set temperature. I live in Southern California, so it’s only fighting maybe 85F outside. And I have my apartment divided in half by a curtain to even further make the area I’m trying to cool smaller. So maybe 200 sq ft. And it still couldn’t get down to temperature. The air coming out of the unit is cold, but it doesn’t seem to have enough force to circulate it. I ended up hooking up my older less powerful unit and it worked better. After a few days and some slightly cooler outside temps, I tried to work the Turbro unit again. This time I realized the major design flaw in the unit. The temperature gauge is located right where the cold air comes out. This means that all night while trying to sleep, the unit would turn on a/c mode then turn just to fan mode then back to a/c mode every 5-10 minutes as it would sense the cold air coming out, think the room was cold, turn off, realize it wasn’t cold, turn back on, etc. this was not a quiet process. What made it even more frustrating was that while most units display the actual temperature of the room, this unit only displayed the set point. I had to purchase a separate indoor thermometer to see what my room actually was. Even after multiple days of running set to 64F, the thermometer set maybe four feet away consistently reads 75-80 during the day. It may seem a great deal to get the UV and A/C in one, but save your money. Should have known it was too good to be true. ... show more

  • High utility air-conditioner!!
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
The media could not be loaded. Recently as summer reaches its peak, and my rental property's air-conditioner is so old that it makes such a loud noise, I decided to purchase a new portable air-conditioner. I came across this model as it also has heating function as well, it could get quite cold at night time here. The air-conditioner is very heavy to be honest, it was quite difficult for a single person to get it out of the box. But that was the hardest part, the installation was very straightforward and the instructions were clear, since I had it tilted a bit trying to get it out of the box, I left it upright for at least overnight prior to letting it run. It was very effective in killing the heat. I was surprised that it actually cool down my place in less than 5 minutes since I was on the top floor of the property and I have higher ceiling than other units (maybe I also had a smaller unit around 500 sqft for my living room, but it was definitely faster than what my landlord provided). And yes, it was much quieter than I expected probably due to the new technology. Switching between cooling and heating was pretty simple, merely just click on the buttons on the air-con or the remote would do the job. Tried the heat function for a bit, does spit out hot air, hopefully it would carry me through the winter. Overall I'll say it's a great investment, at least now I'm able to concentrate more on my work at a comfortable temperature without the loud buzzing noise! ... show more

  • Works well but a couple thing bother me.
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
So far, this unit is working well. Much quieter than my old one. Cools the rooms down and maintains the temp at a comfortable level. The heat function is perfect for cool mornings. My only complaints are the hose fittings and the remote. The connection between the hose and the fittings is not that great. Once assembled and in place, the fittings leak a lot of hot air into the room - or cold air if on the heat setting. I wrapped them with duct tape to cut down on the air leakage. The remote is quite complicated and difficult to use. The icons are not really very intuitive and are extremely small and very hard to see and discern what they are. Since the unit has controls on the top of it, I've been using those instead. Overall, a decent unit and I'm fairly happy with it. We'll see how long it holds up. My last one (a Soleus) went 10 years before needing replacement. I seriously doubt this one will last that long but time will tell. ... show more
