I don’t think they could’ve made this much cheaper. Well, they could have left out the ring that is supposed to go around the candle and attach the suction cup to the window. It is completely useless as it does not fit on the candle. However, I was able to use some stick tack on the base of the candles, and and adhere it to the window seal. Some of the bulbs did not work. I ordered a 3 candle and a 5 candle version. They reminded me of decorations my family had when I was a child in the 60’s. 3 candle unit arrived whole. I was surprised at first as the middle candle had no bulb. But when I removed it from the box there were 2 bulbs included that were attached to the cord. The flickering bulbs is pretty darned neat. The bulbs in the units in the 60’s were just colored bulbs. My only complaint, a minor one, is that one candle doesn’t fit tightly in the base. They are friction fit and will be easy to “glue” with some tacky adhesive. I can’t review the 5 candle unit separately so have to add to this review even though it specifically says 3 candle unit. I dropped the rating from 4 to 3 stars. The 5 candle unit was obviously used/damaged. One end of its box was compressed and the end flap open. (Note: the two units were well-padded in the cardboard box from Amazon.) It had no paperwork inside, the bulb on the compressed end was broken and the middle bulb was missing (which I think they do for shipping). BUT it only had one extra bulb, not 2 like the 3 candle unit had, leaving me short 1. And the spare was not attached to the cord like the other units was. So because of my also ordering the 3 candle unit I have bulbs in all candles. ... show more

I was expecting a heavier base. It’s fairly lightweight made with a flimsy plastic however it does what it’s made to do. The old fashioned ones were much more sturdy.

I use this quite often at night with red colored lights. It helps with a dark room. The lights tend to go bad frequently. However, i really like the lamp overall. Have not tried the suction cup on the window. Like it better on the window sill.

We had them until I moved out and on my own and they lasted for more then 30 years, until hurricane Irma flooded my garage and destroyed them all. Never had I experienced issues with these.
