This umbrella surprised me by how well built it is. It's strong and has helped me get through an unusually rainy spring and summer. I didn't own an umbrella previously because we typically don't get enough rain to need one. But this year I had to break down and buy this one because of the unusual weather. It's made it through a marble sized hail storm with me! Granted, I was able to seek shelter indoors for most of it, it did take a handful of hail-hits and also would have broken/blown inside out if it wasn't as well made as it is. The design and materials of this umbrella are premium. AND my favorite part is the style - I purchased the black umbrella with blue skies underneath and it makes me smile each time I open it. I just got the umbrella a week ago. I only had the opportunity to use it once, but it feels sturdy. Clicking the button to open it feels like it's good quality. It was affordable and nice looking, and I would even go so far as to get one for every member of my family. In fact, I got one for my Middle School-age son, too. If he loses it, I'm not too sad, since it's not too expensive. It's a back-to-school need since he's going to be walking home from school now. My grandson (6) wanted an umbrella that was cool and could hold up to some wind. We looked at a lot of the kid umbrellas and they were either too small or just didn’t seem like they would last. This kid loves the rain and wanted to be able to have his own umbrella. This one is perfect for him and me as well. It’s easy to open and close and seems sturdy. We haven’t had it in strong wind yet so I can’t speak on that. The design is great too!! There were so many cool ones to choose from, it was hard to decide.

Got caught in a thunderstorm Friday night downtown in Chicago. Sideways rain. 50+ mph winds. The umbrella flipped inside out a couple of times but flipped right back w/o any trouble whatsoever. My companion was awestruck! It made a great shield easily withstanding the driving wind and rain. Many parts of us were soaked, but no umbrella could have prevented that. The parts that mattered most were dry and protected when no other umbrella would have survived. I wish they would make a bigger version.

I ordered one to keep in my car after someone (?) lost my umbrella. When he tried it he wanted one for his car so I gave him the one I originally ordered and bought another. Not much rain yet, but I love that I can step out of my car with a purse, package or tote, hit one button and it is fully deployed. A lot of umbrellas do that, but coming back to the car, I can collapse it enough with one hand to toss on the floor and get in. Older umbrellas require two hands for that. Glad I found this.

I use an umbrella for portable shade on my daily walks but needed one that is windproof. The coverage and windproof features are great. However, the slightly oval handle isn't comfortable in my hand (I have some arthritis in my thumbs that may be a factor) and the sunny yellow color doesn't feel like I'm in the shade I want. Though the weight listed is accurate at less than a pound (measured on a postage scale), the umbrella feels heavy to me. A drawback to the size is that while it protects me from the elements, it may difficult to use in a crowd, thus the 4 stars. I would give the umbrella a 5-star rating for value/price if that were an option.
