  • Fantastic!
This umbrella is a most in Texas especially this summer 2023! It is well made and worth the price. You can actually feel the protection from the sun when using this umbrella. It is cooler under it! I absolutely love it!

  • Love it, but not perfect yet
Overall I’m very happy with this umbrella. I walked around Tokyo and with this umbrella I was def cooler and sweated a lot less than I usually do. I’ve never used any other umbrealla, so I can’t say for sure how much different it is, but watching other people walk with umbrellas, I did notice the sun getting though theirs, but mine was completely blocked out. So for the parts I didn’t like. When the umbreall is rolled up is a super thick, and a little heavy. I didn’t mind carrying it around. It was just wrapping it that was kinda annoying. The Velcro strap would barely go around and I’m sure that it will break eventually. I personally don’t lik the silver color, but I understand it’s supposed to be the best option for reflecting the sun. Just wish it didn’t look so cheap and bland. It is a little hard to close, but really easy to open. It’s a decent size that you wont bump into people walking past them, but at the same time, for all that bulk you are carrying around I wish it did have more coverage. Or the ver least bend in more. It’s too small for the rain. I was still getting pretty wet, and missed my regular umbrealla, but I know this is supposed to be for th sun, but I’m just emphasizing on the lack of coverage. Oh, and if you get a small guest a wind. You’re done. This thing is flipping up like those old cartoons. I was kinda surprised how easily this would just flip up from a very small breeze. Oh, and the handle length is really short. I was switching arms constantly because it was kinda too short. Other than that I do think this is worth the price. I’m sure the bulk has to do with the protection factor, but the other things they could fix in a updated version. I will most likely stick with this brand and even upgrade if they made a newer version. Just the comfort of walking around all day without th sun beating on you is worth it IMO. ... show more

  • Worked in hot sun in Santorini!
Worked great walking in hot sun in Santorini! Also used it on a cruise ship for the forward bow party. It was unbearably hot! We were cooking in the sun… but had my umbrella and was comfortable. It really works! Much better than a conventional umbrella.

  • This Umbrella was a Life Saver at my Eagle Nest!
I monitor golden eagle nests yearly for a research project on nest success/failure. This year I had a nest that had no shade, and unusually hot weather for our area. Since my viewing location was farther than the "safe" distance deemed proper for studying eagle nests without disturbing the nesting process, I was able to sit outside my truck in a chair with my spotting scope. My view area, however, had no trees for shade. I soon realized that sitting in 80 and 90 degree temperatures for 6-hours at a time was not only uncomfortable, but of course also unhealthy, even with my hat and sunblock. I decided to try this UV blocker umbrella, and what a success it was! This umbrella not only protected me from the sun's damaging effects, but it also really did drop the temperature. I can not attest to how much of a drop it was, but it felt like at least 10 degrees. The minute I opened the umbrella I could feel a noticeable change in the heat. As far as the wind goes, the baffles work quite nicely, but only if you aim the umbrella so that the wind does not blow into the interior of the umbrella. If you are holding it so that the wind blows into the umbrella, depending on how strong the wind is, it may turn the umbrella inside out. Not to worry, however, I had this happen 3-times due to unexpected wind gusts, and it snapped back into place, with no harm to the umbrella, when I turned the outside top of the umbrella toward the wind. I am not sure how much wind it can take, but one of the things we do is monitor the weather, including wind, and I have used it in gusty wind up to 15-MPR with no problems, as long as I angled it so that the gusts would not catch the inside. This umbrella was well worth the price. My only problem was holding it over my head, while writing in my research log book, and data sheet. A longer handle would have helped me out here, but most people won't have that issue. ... show more

  • Effective but a bit heavy
I used this in September in Jordan and Egypt where temperatures were, at times, well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It was definitely effective in shielding from the blistering sun but be prepared that it is a bit heavier than a rain umbrella of similar size. A bit if a funky chemical odor too but I was grateful to have this as it allowed me to really enjoy the historical sights without melting ... show more

  • The real test for this product.
I purchased this umbrella for a very specific trip to Saudi Arabia where the temperature was 115 at its peak and upper 90's at night. I knew what I was getting into hence I wanted to see how this umbrella would hold up against 1. Sun 2. Wind, and 3. Rough usage. 1. Sun. I felt an immediate drop by 7° in temperature merely by opening it and sitting or walking in its shade. It served its purpose for this, although I was expecting a little more comfort from the heat than I got after prolong usage. 2. Wind: there were two specific incidents when I feel this failed against the wind. Once was miserably. Against the wind gust it was weary but against the force of a suction fan in a tunnel, it folded. I feel this wasn't its best moment. 3. With so many umbrellas being used around yourself, there is bound to be clashes between some and you have to expect being yanked at times. This umbrella did good in the crowd overall, and never ripped or tore up. Although, it must be pointed out that there were some distinct tear markings by the folds after two weeks of usage. I was completely unsatisfied with that happen from normal usage and I hope to hear from the company why a $47 umbrella would wear out after two weeks. I used a UV umbrella my friend purchased from me last year. It was $12 but it lasted the entire trip. The arm broke on the last day but the canvas never teared once. ... show more
