  • 4.0 out of 5 stars nice firmness but sinks eventually. sleeps hot.
Style: 2020 Mint Mattress Size: Queen
moving to foam from traditional requires some adjustment. pillows don't work quite the same, for example, which isn't a fault of this specific mattress. they're also quite heavy overall - a typical mattress is nothing in comparison we rotate every 6mos but clear indentations are forming and the center is noticeably more firm than where we sleep. we are both under 220lbs and share the bed only with an elderly cat. it's also very warm despite being rated as cooler than average. this may be normal for foam but I live in Texas. it also tends to absorb body heat so there's never a cool spot to move to. on a positive note, despite the cloth covering and constant sweating, it hasn't picked up any stains or funky smells mattress buying is a huge drag. T&N is better about it than others without a doubt, but advertising is often so misleading its hard for a consumer to properly weigh their options. if you're wanting to Sleep Like The Dead, there are great unbiased sites to help you choose what's best for your needs, no misleading and desperate sales tactics needed. they led me to this mattress and while it has faults, it's still more or less everything I expected for my budget ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Much easier to unbox then I thought.
Style: New Mint Mattress w/ removable cover Size: Queen
The driver delivered it right to the door, from there I brought inside the house and un boxed by myself as it wasn't a big deal. Watching the video carefully really helped. I can see it's going to take some time to expand ( a couple of days) to fully get to sleeping condition. My old mattress was 25 years old and it was done giving me a good night's sleep a while ago. Not sure why I waited so long. I will update sleeping after I have been in it for a few weeks but so far so good, no complaints. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Tuft & Needle and I have a different definition of the word Medium
After needing to purchase a new pillow back in 2018, I ended up purchasing the King Tuft & Needle Foam Pillow. It ended up being the best pillow I've ever purchased and five years later has still held up. My Novaform Serafina mattress purchased from Costco back in 2014 is no longer in the same shape it was at the time of purchased, so I was waiting for Prime Day to occur to pull the trigger on a new mattress. After the experience with my Tuft & Needle Foam Pillow, I was gunning for a Tuft & Needle mattress. After doing research and reviews, it seems the Mint was the way to between the major three (original, Mint, and Hybrid) based upon it being the least firm ("stiff") of the three. Prime Day occurred, massive discounts on Tuft & Needle mattresses, and I pulled the trigger on the Mint. The mattress is okay. My Novaform Serafina mattress was labeled as "medium" whereas the Mint is labeled the same, but definitely feels more "medium firm." There's a clear difference between the two. Where as I like sinking into the mattress, you don't have that luxury with the Mint. Don't get me wrong, the Mint is a comfortable mattress; but it's not what I expected it to be - especially as a side sleeper. Doing some additional research after my indifference on the mattress, I came across information on the r/Mattress subreddit that the fact Tuft & Needle will provide you with a topper to persuade you not to return the mattress. But here's the key as I discovered from Tuft & Needle's great customer support: if you purchase the mattress directly from Tuft & Needle, they will provide you the topper at no charge. If you purchase the mattress from a third-party such as Amazon, they'll give you a 50% off discount off the topper. Purchasing the mattress topper at half off still ended up coming in at a cheaper price point than what Tuft & Needle was selling the 2020 Mint mattress at, so I still came out on top. The comments in that particular reddit thread said the Mint was a good mattress, but adding the topper made it a great mattress. I'd have to agree - the topper is a definite night and day difference. It helps the dimensions of the topper match that of the Mint, so with sheets on, you'd never realize you have a topper on your mattress. With that being said - 1. Why can't Tuft & Needle make a 14" mattress, putting the foam in the topper right at the top of the mattress (and keeping the remaining 12" the same as the Mint or Hybrid)? 2. Why didn't I just buy a cheaper mattress alongside the topper (at full price)? Would I end up at the same result? In its current state, I'm most likely going to keep the Mint + mattress topper as it's still a grand less than other alternatives I was looking at (mostly the Helix Luxe line-up). I would just like to put that word of forewarning up. If you like your mattresses more on the firm side, you'll probably love the Mint. If you need something more plush, look at a different manufactuer. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars SO FAR, SO GOOD... WE'RE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS NEW FOAM MATTRESS
We bought this in Full size, to use in our Guest room with a new 14" high bed frame from another source. It was our first "mattress-in-a-box" but not our first high quality memory foam mattress. We selected the Tuft and Needle "Mint" model based on a fresh Consumer Reports rating plus on-line reviews at several sites. PRO: Very soft and comfortable top surface, yet great body support. Effectively isolates movement...no bounce or shake. Excellent perimeter support so you can sleep right next to the edge without any sag or tendency to roll off. Minimal odor when first unpacked. (Watch the manufacturer's video of that easy process, before opening.) We actually like this one better than our existing, high-end memory foam mattress costing about twice as much. CON: It would be very helpful if the rolled-up mattress had a sticker on the wrap indicating the direction it would unroll, because you can't tell. As the last of the "grip" wrapping was removed it became apparent we had it in the wrong direction to unroll and, due to the final "vacuum" bag over the mattress not being well sealed, it started to expand before we could move it. No big deal, but easily prevented by an arrow on the outer wrap. FYI: Full expansion can take a couple of days, perhaps more. Although you can sleep on it the same day, the firmness is still changing and one or more corners may look a bit sagged. Just be aware of that and have patience for the birthing process to run its course. Also, the weight is near the limit for UPS delivery and the mattress was left in our driveway instead of up on the covered porch. The same thing happened later when the bed frame was delivered. In both cases UPS had put a "sorry we missed you" sticker on the box, even though we were home and would have gladly helped to carry the box up a few steps. Just be aware that may happen to you as well. There's no danger of the mattress getting wet but, due to cost, it's a tempting target for theft and you don't want it unnecessarily exposed because of sloppy UPS service. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars not bad, but not good for your back problems
It was okay for first couple of months, but it was sinking too much later. I paid premium to protect/relief my back, but this doesn't help much. I'm not sure if this was worth the price.
