I recently moved to a new house that has a very large yard - it came in great shape and I need to keep it that way. The massive amount of area that is susceptible to weeds meant that I was spraying and pulling 1-2 afternoons a week to stay on top of it all in the Georgia heat. I had already once gotten poison ivy at some point from brushing against it somewhere from being up to my elbows around shrubs trying to get every last week. I recently saw - and i bet you did too - an Instagram ad for a tool very similar to this one. None of my local garden centers had anything like it, and I didn't want to order from a fly by night ad, but the design of a tool like this seemed perfect. Chose this one and I am wondering where it has been all my gardening life! Just apply a little pressure to dislodge weeds, works great under pine straw, just push the mulch back into place after weeding - again without bending over. I can do a quick pass of the whole yard now in under an hour to touch up, and I don't get my hands near any suspicious vines! I can do a pass after to pick up what I want to put in a yard bag with my garden claws - so much more efficient! I love it, you will love it too. Only complaint was it came in a HUGE box that it absolutely didn't need to be in (which I recycled) - but that's an Amazon shipping issue, not a product issue. Great tool, very sturdy, save your back when weeding.

I was looking for a hoe of greater quality and durability than I could find in Home Depot or Lowe’s, something where the head is made from substantial steel, rather than recycled Pepsi cans. I inadvertently came across this True Temper Action Hoe and, while it wasn’t necessarily what I’d originally been looking for in terms of function, it looked well made and the lightbulb above my head lit up… ah-hah! This could be good! I could repurpose it! This was a garden tool I’d never ever seen before but I had just the job for it. Now, I’m going to be as delicate as I can here with my terminology and vocabulary because I don’t want the Amazon Reviews Police bouncing this review. I think it’s information that needs to get out there because I’m sure a certain strata of people would actively welcome it. Here goes… Are you a home owner? AND a dog lover? (apartment & condo owners can stop right here: this won’t apply to you because you don’t have a back yard to do any maintenance on) If you are, particularly if you have two or more of our beloved furry friends, then you are all too aware of the little presents they leave on a regular basis for us in the garden. I tidy these up by collecting with a mulching rake (like an ordinary rake but narrower: the tines are only about 10” wide instead of, say, 24” wide) and this bucket/scoop thingy that has an upright handle on it (I’ve no idea what they’re called, but you’d instantly recognize it if you saw it). And this works fine. Well, fine for most of the little packets of ex-dog food. However, you dog owners out there know that sometimes the, uh… consistency of the gifts is such that they puddle into a blobby mess instead of remaining firm and easily dealt with. If you factor in some hours of being baked in the hot sun (here in southern California, this is obviously a regular occurrence) a catalytic reaction takes place that rivals vulcanization, yet is orders of magnitude greater. I confess I’ve always wondered how some seemingly basic biologic mass can transform under sunlight into something the periodic table hasn’t even contemplated yet. Someone should look into this. Their subsequent patents could give Gorilla Glue a devastating knock. Sorry. I’ve digressed. So, when I saw the picture of this hoe I immediately thought “This is what I need to scrape the puddled number twos from my back garden (both concrete and dirt areas)!” I was wondering just how Amazon was going to ship it. It arrived in a long narrow cardboard container… doh. It’s a pretty substantial item. The handle is wood and decently robust (no spaghetti skinny bendy handles here). Moreover, having tested it this weekend, it works a treat. For $16, if you even think you might be able to utilize this, you really ought to give it a try. Most recommended.

Weeds had totally started to take over my garden so I ordered this because a neighbor had recommended one. I didn’t have high hopes but this tool is amazing! It’s a lot more heavy duty than I was expecting, but it’s also still light and comfortable to use. I weeded my tomato and pepper plant section, which was heavily weeded, in less than 40 minutes (see before and after pic). Can’t say good enough this about this hoe! I do have to say that at first I wasn’t sure how to use it and stared using it upside down and it didn’t work, so maybe those reviews saying it didn’t work were using it wrong? As soon as I flipped it over it worked perfect. ***UPDATE 05/07/21*** This thing is still going strong! I have used it a ton and my kids even got a hold of it in the winter to Chip ice off the driveway! Got it out to get the garden ready and it works just like it did the day I got it. The weeds came in like crazy this year and this thing helped me knock them out quick. A lot of it was grass thing year and it worked great for that. Still give it 5 stars!

This hoe is incredible!! First off I did break mine! But it's because I was using it on a hard packed dirt driveway with 1/4 blue stone covering. I wanted something easy to cut the driveway area and this did the trick! Simply amazing, but like I said I did break it, the cutting head is held in place by a bent aluminum tube, that is held in the metal attachment to the pole. Basically I was again using it in hard packed dirt and gravel trying to cut out thick grass. I'm pretty strong and I got it to easily cut/remove the grass and weeds, but bent the head so the cutting surface was parallel to the shaft. I ended up standing on the head and bending it back. At the end of the day the aluminum tube started to tear! But I am so impressed that it held up that long that I just ordered a replacement! Lol. I have a project in the yard where I tested it first and it removed the weeds like I was slicing off cheese from a cheese wheel! I will be salvaging the handle as it is of excellently thick wood! So worth it!!

I have been familiar with Hula Hoes for over 40 years - first discovering their efficiency for getting down under the roots to remove weeds. After a dozen years of use, my former hoes were wearing out and no longer sharp. I saw this weed remover on Amazon which was exactly like my earlier hoes - but this one was so much better. The wooden handle was sturdier as was the metal blade on the bottom. It was also light and easy to use without bending or breaking the wooden handle. I first bought two to try them out and was so impressed I have put in a second order for another two. You won't be sorry if you buy one of these. It's a good investment and a great tool to have around your place. I got mine to remove the noxious tumble weeds whch are common here in Wyoming.

Effortless Weeding with a Comfortable Grip I’ve been using the True Temper Looped Action Hoe for a few weeks now, and it has quickly become one of my go-to garden tools. The looped blade design really does make a difference—unlike a traditional hoe, you can push and pull through the soil in a smooth motion, slicing weeds just below the surface without having to hack away. It feels efficient and saves a lot of time in garden beds. The 54-inch hardwood handle is a good length for me (I’m about average height), so I don’t feel like I’m bending over too much while working. The cushioned grip is a nice touch, especially when working for longer stretches; it keeps hand fatigue down and makes the tool feel steady and well-balanced. One thing to keep in mind: this hoe is really intended for lighter soil cultivation and weed removal. If you try to muscle it through heavy clay or packed dirt, it doesn’t cut quite as well. But for keeping garden rows and flower beds tidy, it’s excellent. Bottom line: A sturdy, comfortable, and efficient hoe that makes weeding and cultivating much easier—especially suited for routine garden maintenance in looser soils.

I confess I never fully understood hoes - they seemed like more work than weeding. That is definitely not the case with this tool! The cutting head moves back and forth with a repetitive, rocking motion, rips the weeds out of the ground rapidly and covers a lot of distance. I weeded an entire 25' bed in about an hour - the same bed I would allocate an hour a day over the course of a week to clear out. I did have to go back through and remove the slaughtered weeds, because those nasty things will just flip over and sink roots in again if left in place. But the pulling part was a breeze, and I didn't mind the cleanup afterwards. Do know that the process will entirely overturn the top layer of soil - not very favorable for no-dig gardening, but sometimes one must do whatever is necessary to get the damn weeds out.

I'll be honest. I'm a complete novice gardener. Whatever I know about gardening I've gleaned from browsing through Better Homes and Gardens n waiting rooms, but I do know I didn't want to break my back crawling around weeding. Now that I have a small side yard, completely overrun with weeds, I wanted to do some planting amd make sure the weeds don't choke them out. I'm not that strong, but within about an hour I've cleared all the weeds out, and with another hour of work, I could easily clear out all the clover and crab grass to start completely fresh. I even found this a bit therapeutic after a long week of work, hacking mercilessly at these weeds. Worth every penny!
