These LEDs are labeled specifically for TWO CELL flashlights. I installed them in a pair of 2-D-cell Maglites, one with an ordinary flashlight bulb, the other with an upgraded Xenon bulb. I didn't have the proper instrument to measure total light output (google "integrating sphere") but used a good Minolta meter to measure what was reflected from a white diffuse surface to get relative measurements. The Xenon bulb was 3x brighter than the ordinary bulb, and these LEDs were 4.4x brighter than the Xenon bulb. Pretty significant. The LEDs were much whiter than the other bulbs (the standard bulb actually looked amber by comparison) but had a bit of a yellow-green cast - probably not visible unless you're looking for it. When focused for distance the beam quality was pretty good, but twisting the Maglite cap to the "wide" position produced a dark spot in the middle. LED life and battery life are both supposed to be improved - only time will tell. But based on what I've seen, these LEDs are a great improvement for those rugged old Maglites. ... show more

    • Not as bright as I hoped
I was hoping this would get my old 2-cell incandescent Maglite up to the brightness of new, smaller LED flashlights. These LED’s are a lot better than the original incandescent bulbs, and I’m thrilled not to have to throw the dinosaur Maglite away, but they aren’t searingly bright. There are brighter LED’s available but apparently not for 2 D-cell flashlights. So it’s not the bulb’s fault, it does what it says. Just a little less than hoped for. ... show more

I upgraded an old Ever Ready flashlight (Black) and a maglight (Blue). I used the same batteries for the photos. The dimmest is the original black flashlight with the old bulb and the next picture (widest beam) is with the LED. The second darkest is the maglight with the original bulb. The last photo is the maglight with the new LED. The inconsistency is found in after having taken these photos, sometimes the lights flickered. Especially the mag light would sometimes be brigher than the black on and sometimes not as bright. ... show more

I like my old maglites but wasn't using them anymore . light was just too dull. I figured I would give these led bulbs a shot at improving the quality of the light. They did just that much clearer and brighter. Not as bright as some of my newer high power led flashlights but leaps & bounds better than before. Happy with the purchase. ... show more
