I have a stray cat that has been hanging around my house that I have been feeding. I live in PA and the weather is getting colder by the day. I don’t know where he has been sleeping, but knew he needed something. I bought this Cat Condo, but since we can easily get temps in the negatives I needed to do some weatherization to it. I bought reflective bubble insulation plus a self heating mat to put inside of it to help him stay cozy. It was easy to put together and thankfully didn’t have any issues with the flooring like some people had. I lined all of the sides with the reflective bubble and out the self heating mat in. I’m thinking of putting some more blankets in it for the really frigid temps. The box can fit on big size cat or a couple of smaller kitties. If you are looking to house multiple big cats than this won’t do because it’s not big enough, however it’s perfect for my guy. If you live in the colder climates it won’t do just itself because the wood is a soft wood that would be drafty along with the floor, but if you have the time and resources to westherize it than it’s perfect! I do wish it was a little bit sturdier, but for the price it’s good. ... show more

Very cute little house! Will definitely need to waterproof all wood! Roof is good. Though I will say roof flopped back and broke. Little wood glue, holding ok. Need 2 screws, chain, rope or something to keep roof from flopping back is necessary! Floor fit perfectly in this house. No damage on any piewhen removed from the box, easy to assemble! I used the sturdy box it came in to insulate the floor and all sides, used a little duck tape at all seams. Odor was strong and did burn my eyes. Aired out quickly. Helped to insulate with the cardboard. Trimmed clear plastic door, Placed kitty's heated mat in, a little straw and he eventually climed in! Was a bit concerned as he is a big boy. He seems to be enjoying the shelter from the cold Winter here in MO! Would purchase again! Hope u have the same experience!! 😃 ... show more

My outdoor kitty uses the house when it's cold. We have it on our back patio so there is roof coverage from rain and snow. It is a good shelter and worth what I paid for it. The only thing I didn't like was the floor wooden planks have small gaps which allows cold air in. However, we solved this with a small pet heating pad. We had to drill a small hole in the side wall to allow the cord through. ... show more

Easy to assembly, fairly sturdy. NOT MADE FOR COLD WEATHER. There is no insulation in this unit. It is also not weatherproof on the sides or bottom. There are open gaps in the boards on all sides except the top. So cold air / water can intrude. If insulation or some weather proofing material was placed inside (as I did) then it should be a good shelter for feral / outdoor cats. The media could not be loaded. Easy to assemble. Pros- opens from Top. CONS: cat doesn’t like the flap door so I flipped it up into roof (see photo/video) until stray gets used to it. Also, the Slits in the floor are wide, chill can get in. I put 3-4 baby blankets in (we live in Texas and it’s 32 outside right now) and this cat just loves it. PRO TIP- I PUT CATNIP INSIDE & around it to lure the kitty & some food. I’m beyond happy & can sleep better knowing they aren’t freezing! HOWEVER TO BE HONEST THIS WAS NOT BUILT THE BEST FOR LONGEVITY. Cracks in wood especially where the hinges are for the little ‘ramp’- and also the heart door closer- was very wonky. But hey. It’s working thus far? Will update if need be! ... show more

It was only a little difficult because I didn’t have a drill to make holes for the roof. I got this for the stray cat that comes by my house every now and then and It seems sturdy enough maybe a few small gaps that make me slightly question if it’s good for the winter.
