Our old shoe rack was a mix of wood and metal. It was OK, but was old and needed to be replaced. I looked long and hard for a shoe rack that would fit our space, and finally found this one. This thing is very substantial. I was surprised carrying the box up the stairs. It was heavy, like 50 pounds. Easy to assemble, not more than 30 minutes. While this is a bit shorter than our old shoe rack, it holds as many shoes. We are able to fit 3 adult pairs of shoes in each shelf, though you may have to alternate orientation - so 1 faces out and 2 face in. Overall, super happy with this purchase. Great shoe rack, nice and sturdy. Space between shelves is narrow. It needs a couple more inches between shelves for shoes that have a 3" or more heel. I wear a size 7 shoe and some of my 3" heels did not fit on shelves. It is too small for large women's shoes or men's shoes! It takes about 1 1/2 hours to assemble. I ordered the first shoe shelf and it went just fine. Assembly eyes ordered. The second one was assembled just like the first shelf however it did not go like the first one. It was a problem with it the owner of the company or refusion every time I send a letter they tell me that I need to send pictures. I already sent them many photos. Just to get another note back, saying the same thing. stay clear from this company. You can’t tell people what to buy, but you certainly can tell him what not to buy and this is one of those things you should not buy.. ... show more
