A number of years ago while hanging out with a musician friend I asked him how he made his hair so shiny and perfect, he said "American Crew, they got the best pomade." So I bought some even with the sticker shock of $20. Then, one day, I spotted TRENDstarter, which may have had a "compare to American Crew pomade" or was next to it and/or the containers are strikingly similar. That's when I did the thing that annoys me when other people do it... opened the jar in the store. Looking at Trendsetter I saw very little difference between it and the American Crew's pomade. Even better? The price was nearly a THIRD what American Crew was. SOLD! Considering I still had American Crew pomade left at home I was able to do some comparison testing to discover, not only is Trendsetter less expensive, it's way better! If you like a thick pomade that's not too sticky, holds really well, controls split ends, lasts all day, can be put in hair wet or dry, and if you love American Crew product, Trendsetter at least pomade is excellent and affordable. As far as the seller goes it came quick as Amazon usually is, their prices were less than stores, and while I ordered some to stock up I'll definitely seek them out when I need to reorder.

Not much to say. I have wavy hair, I keep it short (like 0 fade sides and back, 1 inch length on the top). Even with the limited length of hair, this pomade struggles to keep the styling through an 8 hour work day (no humidity, in an air controlled environment). The smell…basically its Axe. There’s no bergamot or anything citrusy about it. It just smells overpowering and screams Axe body spray. Hair product is very subjective, what works for others may not be work for you and vice versa. Take this review with a grain of salt. Just didn’t suit my needs and the overpowering smell can be offensive to others you work closely with. I wouldn’t buy this product again.
