Description

From the Manufacturer The Velineon VXL-3s forward/reverse electronic speed control simplifies brushless technology with easy, built-in profiles and intuitive programming. Tri-mode operation auto detects the motor type for brushed, sensored or sensorless brushless motors. The VXL-3s uses advanced circuit design that allows sensorless brushless motors to operate with the smoothness and precision of the best brushed systems. It sets up, operates, and programs just like the Traxxas XL-5 family of ESCs so there’s no tricky new procedures to learn. Traxxas’ exclusive patent-pending Training Mode is also included to limit full throttle to 50% for young or inexperienced drivers. For the most advanced users, the VXL-3s is equipped with two-stage low voltage detection to allow LiPo battery use, including powerful 11.1-volt 3S packs. The Velineon 3500 Brushless Motor uses ultra high-temperature Neodymium magnets, high-speed ball bearings, and a precision balanced rotor for power and long-life. Since there are no brushes or commutator to wear out, the need for maintenance is virtually eliminated. The Velineon 3500 delivers consistent, high-power output, run after run.

It is a lot better the it ever ran

  • AMAZING.
Brushless dc motors are AMAZING. So much less rotor drag and less friction, only coggs a little bit when given slight throttle IE 1:28 out of WOT will crawl but not very well, sensored is best for crawling. This works great for off road and speed runs. Does get quite hot. I run a stock stampede 2x4 19/90 gearing wich is stock for good speed and torque for off roading. I monitored temps in long length grass, after completly draining my stock 3000mah 7 cell traxxas battery, motor temps were 147F and esc was about 136F. No fans no extra cooling fins, with the body on and BASHING AS HARD AS I COULD. i porposely was trying to see how hot this system would run under the most agressive extreme stressed conditions,stop/go/wot/reverse. Etc. All out and seemed to be just fine. I highly reccomend getting a IR tempature gauge as well,i use the duratrax flashpoint. Finger touch test isnt very reliable for measureing motor tempature. 150-180 is a good safe zone, anything over 180F itll damage the rotor magnets. Check the user manual. Keep it properly geared,ESC will thermal shutdown, but will NOT shutdown if the vxl motor oerheats. Monitor experiment and make sure all is set and well before using all out. Hope this could help someone. As for packaging and delivery, delivered great on time no damage or anything,i cant complain. The box the VXL kit is very nice and everything is layed out in foam cushon, vxl manual decals 3s esc and motor are neatly in foam. Makes a great place to store your old esc and motor after swapping it with this brushless kit. 5/5* very pleased and would absolutly buy over and over if i had more cars to convert to brushless! ... show more

  • I got a used and broken one from Amazon!!!
I have been an Amazon customer for ages. I think I am also a very loyal one. I buy things from other websites only when I cannot find the stuff I want in Amazon. I have been pretty happy with Amazon. However, this purchase COMPLETELY ruined the image of Amazon for me. I recently picked up this hobby of RC, and is very passionate about upgrading my Traxxas Slash. So I decided to upgrade it with this Velineon system. Since I love Amazon, I could purchase it from other RC websites for less, but decided to buy it from Amazon. The first thing I found when I received my package was that the box was not wrapped in plastic but simply sealed with a piece of dirty used tape. After opening it, I found no foam insert which should be there (according to a tech from Traxxas) to keep things in place. The motor and esc were simply contained in two OPENED plastic bags. Because there was no foam insert, one of the mounting points of the esc was knocked off. So I got a used and broken system. Again, since I like Amazon, I decided to make it work rather than returning it right away. I made an adapter to mount the esc and installed the entire system. It worked! So I was kinda happy, even though I got a lemon. After washing off the dirt from my first test run and drying everything carefully, I found the esc stopped working! I installed everything following the instruction and I had also watched many videos on Youtube to ensure watertightness, in addition I am a PhD student in engineer! Why would it fail with 1 test run and 1 water rinse! It is called "Traxxas 3350X Velineon Brushless Power System Waterproof". 1/7 of its name is about waterproof. There are tons and tons of videos about people operating the system IN THE WATER. Why would this one fail? So there is only one sensible explanation: Amazon simply sent me USED and BROKEN and FLAWED product! Sorry Amazon, I tried, but I have to give this one a bad bad bad review. I really wish there is a "zero star" option for this one. I have decided to replace it. Hopefully you will not let me down again Amazon. ... show more

  • Think 1980s
You want to have some real fun? Do what I did. Dream about your first RC car with this technology, tell your hobby store guy about it... after he laughs at you and says, "you'll shoot your eye out kid," BUILD IT ANYWAY!! No one believe's me when I tell them that I successfully installed this in a vintage 80's Tamiya Grasshopper without shredding the gearbox! LOL. Excluding this product and a Traxxas 25c 7.4v 5800mAh LiPo, the grasshopper is completely stock. I thought I would destroy the spider gears on the first hole shot, but I was happy to find that the stock grasshopper tires are the only "safety clutch" you will need. After one run the tires showed considerable signs of wear and it was so worth it! This Velineon system is so much fun to experiment with and I wouldn't hesitate to put it in any RC car or truck, new or old. Right now I'm thinking Vintage Aluminum Bathtub Chassis RC-10 with 11.1 Volts! WOO HOO!! ... show more

  • AWESOME
I've had my Slash 2wd for a month now and I love it, but I defiantly needed more from it on the desert terrain I run in. I have not gone LIPO yet so I figured upgrading the motor will give me more power. In addition to the motor I got some Proline tires front and rear. Let me say that this combination has completely transformed my truck from very sloppy and lacking that power to break the tires loose when at higher speeds, to a very stable responsive monster that just tears up loose dirt and washes. It's a significant investment for a major upgrade to your truck. I'm very satisfied as it does what it promised and my truck is just were i want it for the time being . I would highly recommend upgrading your stock tires if you drive in anything loose. I also wired a trailer hitch bolt to the front which keeps the front end down. The performance is amazing. ... show more

  • Great customer service from Traxxas
Traxxas is world class. I bought this combo and could not switch between the various operation modes (training, race, sport). I have kids and very much need the training mode. BTW, I installed this in a Gravedigger, which is essentially a 2WD Stampede. I contacted Traxxas and they said to just send it in. I did not have a receipt. They could not find any fault with the ESC. They did however replace the motor. They said that the motor didn't have a warranty so they essentially replaced it just in case I guess. When I put it back together, it worked perfectly. Though Traxxas parts are not the cheapest, they stand by their products and if there's a problem, they make it right. ... show more
