  • LOVE IT! Excellent customer service!
Color: Black
Loved this trailer and used it regularly for groceries and carting my work gear (computer, lunch, gym supplies, change of clothes/shoes, etc) for 9-months. LOVED IT. Like all trailers, it slowed me down a bit while biking — this was expected. It’s like pulling a sail… but speed isn’t the point. The ease of use and carrying capacity was unmatched!! Previous reviewers were raving and they were right. Super easy to bring into the grocery store, office, gym, etc. Folds rediculously small. Works on any bike. Amazing. Then came a critical failure: the anchor to hold the upper load broke. I never carried anything huge on the top anchors… probably 20lbs tops. Now I’m limited to half of the space which puts me back into a car 😑 The other reason I bought a Burley is because of the service. I reached out to burley and they are sending a replacement.b They stand behind their product. If you’re looking for an easy way to carry gear on rides, this is it. ... show more

  • Well made !! -Responsive company that listens and improved the product
Color: Black
This trailer is a classic. Super portable and light. When attached you hardly feel it at all. It is easy to forget you are pulling a trailer and stupidly can ride in your old manner. Foolish riders are the only problem. Since people NEVER make a mistake they then blame the trailer. There is no trailer that is this light, folds so small, and can be used as a shopping cart and be taken into a store to be packed up and therefore not be stolen. One review said that the straps got loose. I went out and tested mine several times from multiple angles. They never got loose. These are the exact same straps and locking lever that have been used as shoulder straps on thousands of backpacks for decades. I think this person might have threaded the strap through the locking lever the wrong way. The company has improved the trailer from the first version years ago. They added a hitch that disconnects easier, an extension on the attachment bar to clear longer racks, a better kickstand to have the trailer stand up vertically without falling (great for shopping) and a rubber grip for when one uses it as a shopping cart, or to wheel your stuff up to your hotel room without unpacking your bike. I can not get into the bags. I have waterproof bags already and with no bags you can fit GIGANTIC boxes on the trailer. See the You Tube video where a guy with a brompton moves his whole apartment with this trailer. Super trailer. A classic. • Best and Easiest for Simple Local Errands (Pros & Cons in review)
Color: Black
Edit 2.5 years later: the Quick Hitch seems to be made of inferior metal. After two years of using it four or five times per week the metal under the plastic handle that one presses to snap the hitch secure to the seatpost has gouged a channel into the metal below to the point where it no longer clamps and secures adequately. I hadn't had it fall off but I felt I needed to replace the hitch because it was just a matter of a short time. There are tutorials on some of the DIY websites that detail how to make improved hitches with over the counter parts. The one I made used one of the Travoy old style seat post clamps (which I already had) and I had to purchase a truss clamp ($14). This all-metal DIY hitch is better than either the old or new Burley hitches. Download the manual from the Burley website. This is our second Travoy trailer. The other is still in use after 10 years. The new Travoy has some substantial upgrades: • The new “kickstand” design keeps the trailer upright when parked with a load. The old one would tip over. • New seatpost hitch allows a single hitch to be shared among two or more bikes. With the old one you had to buy more hitches. • The tow arm now extends to accommodate rear bike racks and larger MTB wheels. • Tow arm is now padded with foam for hand comfort. The entire time we owned our first Travoy we mistakenly believed we should have chosen a flatbed instead. We recently bought a flatbed and don’t use it; bought a second Travoy as a backup. If all you do is local errands the Travoy is by far the easiest and best. If you tour or travel dirt roads a flatbed might be a better choice but you should want both a flatbed plus the Travoy because the Travoy is easier for local errands which are far more common. The bags that are dedicated for use with the Travoy are costly and do not hold enough. Instead, wheel your Travoy into Target or Walmart and choose the largest clothes hamper that fits the Travoy form factor (see photo). Attach that hamper with three ratcheting tie-downs or four high quality, ADJUSTABLE bungees. Do not skimp on quality or number. PROS: • Lightweight, 10lbs +/- • No tools or setup required. Screw the hitch onto your seatpost with the T-bold and you’re done. • Folds to easily fit in a backseat, a trunk or an airline overhead. • Holds up to $125 in groceries with the large hamper attached. Mind the maximum weight restriction (60lbs) and pack the heaviest items at the bottom (66% of load) and lighter items at the top (33%). • With the Travoy you don’t have to bend over quite as far to reach cargo. • Comes with a storage/carrying bag (although it’s mostly useless for carrying cargo). CONS: • You must adjust your riding style slightly. The Travoy is stable on level pavement but may tip over at significant road imperfections or surface debris. Slow down and approach handicapped ramps and driveways exactly at 90 degrees (perpendicular) to avoid catching a wheel on their raised shoulders. Avoid potholes and debris entirely. You’ll grow accustomed to this over time and it will not bother you. If the Travoy DOES tip, it doesn’t take the bike with it. • If you run with the stock tires and tubes be prepared for flats. The availability of high quality 12.5” inch tires and tubes is extremely limited. All the tires from Asia that we tried are no good, even dangerous. We found very high quality 12.5 inch tires from the German manufacturer “Schwalbe” (available here on Amazon). Schwalbe currently offers the “Road Cruiser” for street and the “Black Jack” for trails and off-road (12/2020). • 12.5” thorn resistant tubes are available here on Amazon but the Travoy 12.5 inch wheels require a 45 degree valve; otherwise there is not enough room to attach a pump or even a pump hose. These thorn resistant tubes had straight valves. To accommodate this shortcoming we found a "Air Inflator Hose Adapter" here on Amazon. Although it just barely fits, we can use it with both our floor pump and our road pump. TIPS: • In addition to thorn resistant tubes, we use the “Mr. Tuffy”-brand tire inserts on all our bike and trailer wheels (here on Amazon). Flats are now a very rare occurrence and we ride among numerous desert thorns. • When using the hamper it is easy to cut a neon yellow reflective vest into three sections (left front, right front and back) and attach the sections to the hamper (left side, right side and rear, see photo). • Reflective flags and flagpoles with mounts that fit your hamper are available here on Amazon. The flagpole we bought is high enough so that the flag can be seen above the level of a parked car (see photo). For added safety we now use this flag and pole on our bikes even without the trailer. • When the hamper is inappropriate we use a cargo net. The cargo net is also handy if your hamper is overflowing.
