When my wife and I decided to retire our child trailer after more than twenty years of service we found the offerings slim for a dedicated dog trailer for our 10 lbs bichion "peaches". Despite the brand name and great price, the schwinn rascal pet trailer seemed low on features, heavy in weight, and cheaply made judging by the specs. We purchased it because there weren't alot of other options, and after using it for three months i can say I'm glad we did. The build quality is good and it cleans up well. The construction is simple with easy put up and take down and it stores well. I like to keep the wheels on for maximum ease of use (see photo). Our dog seems comfortable or as much as she can be for being in a confined space. The rascal has plenty of room for lunch bags, beach towels or other small items. Unless your focused on time trials, the added weight is no big deal. Most importantly the wow factor is not lost. You know, watching the delighted anb bewildered expressions of other riders realizing you've got your dog along for the ride. Only a small subset of dedicated riders, dog owners and excentrics know what I'm talking about here. Cons include already showing some signs of whear and a low profile which makes it difficult to look back while riding to check on your dog. Would also have liked to see a screen window in the back of the trailer so that peaches can see my wife riding behind. All in all an excellent price and product. Hope you found this review useful. It rides well, is well built, good materials, and is easy to setup and attach to the bike. I was surprised by how much in the way of groceries I was able to get in there. Well worth it for the extra carrying space and (eventually) bringing the dog with.

Trailer is easy to assemble and disassemble except for the spreader bar that goes across the top. It is hard to see the grove that it goes in and the material surrounding the area add constricts the vision and ability to correctly get in into the slot. The same with disassembly. As we do more assemblies we are learning how to do it and also the material is stretching so it is getting easier. Out side of that the trailer is fine for our 20 lbs dog. Excellent product all around. Easy to assemble, good quality and pretty light - you can barely notice you are pulling the trailer. The trailer does affect somewhat your bike braking capabilities, so need to be careful in those cases and when making turns, but otherwise it is super easy to pull. Dog was scared on the first ride (tried to jump out of the trailer, so I got him used inside the trailer with the net closed until he was confident to ride with the net open), but after that he seems to be enjoying the rides. I highly recommend if you don't want to leave your pooch at home by himself when going for bike rides. Well done Schwinn! ... show more

This was very quick to put together, maybe 10 minutes at most. Longest part was getting the attachment onto the bike. Super durable, and has a non-slip floor for the dog to stand on, thoughtful things like a rain shield that can be up or down and a pocket on the back. Main complaint is that there is not enough play to keep the cart level even when attached to a medium frame bike. ... show more

This is a well made pet trailer and works quite well. It was easy to assemble and attach. I have a 20 lb. Cairn Terrier and he is quite content watching the scenery go by. It seems to work best when the dog is wearing his harness and the harness is attached to the internal safety strap. Under those conditions he does not paw the netted windows or door and try to get out. Pet claws will make short work of the nylon netting if your pet is inclined to paw the opening. It does take a bit of effort to fold the trailer, put it in the car. take it back out and reassemble for a ride. For that reason it works best if you are riding around the neighborhood or if the trail is a distance away and worth the effort to disassemble and reassemble. The trailer plus pet add 50 lbs and takes more effort than your usual ride. You also need to take wider turns and perhaps ride a bit slower for safety sake and avoid obstacles or riding on uneven ground. All in all, an excellent investment! ... show more

Very good dog trailer. My frenchie has small bed in it and she stays comfortable during our trips. There is also space for my backpack and water! She is 30 Ibs and is perfect for her. Trailer is little bit heavy but easy to storage and is sturdy during trips.
