I was excited to try this, for the price I thought it would be amazing! It is good, very good. I think the price is a bit high but this is one of the better carriers we have right now so I am not marking it down for that. It flattens nicely and is easy to configure it for use. The flap where you can slip it on your luggage might be handy for some, not me but I can see that being a benefit. I'd prefer mesh just so there is more airflow but there is mesh behind the flap and above/beneath the flap. The roll-up flap on the other side doesn't impede the straps in any way. I rolled it up and it has stayed up and the dreaded hook and loop scratchy part appears to be attached in a way that doesn't catch on anything. The handle is nice. What I really love is the bottom and pad along with the front and back portions. One of our cats is a bit chonky and I've had carriers start to collapse/pull in when I carry her. This one does not nor does it squish down when I put her in and she decides to use her weight/girth in protest. It's a great design, as I said before it is really one of our better ones if not the best. And with the price, I'd rather have quality than not quality and have to replace or realize what I got doesn't work for us. This one definitely does!

I have followed this company for a while and have always wanted one of their carriers but they are so expensive that I have not made the leap. I was quite excited to try this product through the Vine program and am ready to compare this one to the many, cheaper carriers in my possession. I have included pictures to show some of these differences. The cheaper carrier is pink and the Travel Cat Odyssey is blue. These are some of the differences between the Travel Cat Odyssey carrier and another collapsible fabric carrier- Price-okay, let’s start with the obvious. The Travel Cat Odyssey is $109-which is not cheap for a carrier. The one I’m comparing it to is around $40 here on Amazon. Size- The Travel Cat Odyssey is about 9 1/2” high, 11 3/4” wide, and 17 1/2” deep. The cheaper one is about 12” high, 12 1/4” wide, and 16 3/4” deep. I believe that the Odyssey is wider than it is tall so the carrier can fit under a plane seat. Source -both are made in China. Quality-here’s where the cost difference is evident. Everything on the Travel Cat Odyssey appears to be a better quality than my other carrier. Zippers move smoother and have a lock to prevent a cat from escaping. Material is a thicker quality. The Odyssey is lined with a nylon fabric whereas my cheaper one is lined with plastic. There are three handles on the Odyssey. A short one directly on the carrier, two straps that connect in the center with a Velcro handle, and a shoulder strap. All straps have padding for hands or shoulder and the shoulder strap is nicely cushioned. The swivel hooks on the Odyssey’s shoulder strap are a much better quality than my other carrier. The mat inside the Odyssey is a nice thick cushioned plush fleece and the board inside is removable. The board is very thick and rigid, ensuring even your chonkiest kitty will not collapse the floor while being transported. I’m not sure what the board is made of as it is sealed inside a plastic cover. The mat has a handle on each end to make removing it easier. Compared to the cheaper carrier that has a thin plush cover over a piece of mdf board. This cover is also removeable but the board is not protected from accidents as the plush cover doesn’t have a waterproof lining. Both carriers have a collar clip and again the Odyssey’s quality difference is evident. Better webbing material, the better swivel clip, and the Odyssey’s collar clip is even adjustable in length. The Odyssey also has a suitcase strap to go over a suitcase handle. The cheaper one does as well but it is simply a webbing strap. Both carriers have a pocket on one end. The Odyssey’s is open and is stitched in the middle creating two pockets. And as a last perk one of the windows on the end has a roll up curtain that stays up or down with Velcro. The cheaper carrier has a cover on the top that can be rolled open but doesn’t have a way to keep it open. My cheaper carrier’s biggest pro is that it has a push out side should I want to make it bigger. So, ultimately the Travel Cat Odyssey is a much better quality carrier and you pay for that in its price. I would recommend a carrier like this if you travel with your cat a lot. I think the quality of the Travel Cat will last far longer than my cheaper carrier and is a better investment. But, if you’re just looking for a carrier that will get you to the vet occasionally then a cheaper carrier may be a better option. I will say that the Travel Cat company is quite proud of their products and I can see why now. My Amazon rating system- Five stars-Great item. May have a minor flaw that does not detract from appearance or function. Four stars-Great item. Flaw or problem more noticeable. Or, price may be high for what it is. Three stars-Good item. Has a flaw/problem that requires more work than should be invested in a product. Two stars-May be a good item with work. Or, doesn’t work for me but may for someone else. One star-Nope. Doesn’t work for me and probably won’t for anyone else.

This is a wonderful cat carrier. It’s very thoughtfully designed and aesthetically pleasing as well. My cat now gets to travel in style! I have a big boy weighing in at 15 pounds and this soft sided carrier is so much easier to carry him in and I believe he’s more comfortable as well. Our old carrier was a hard sided one and was very clunky and without any padding. This carrier feels very sturdy and like it’s made with quality materials. One of my favorite features is the carpeted base of the carrier that can also pull out to be cleaned. The front panel can also be rolled up or down. I think these features really add to my cat’s comfort. The zippers can also lock together for added security when traveling. It has a nice adjustable carrying strap with a padded part or a sturdy handle for carrying. I highly recommend this carrier. It’s a great option for any medium to small animal for travel or vet visits.
