This product grabs on and holds on tight to any ferrous metal surface. The cable is nicely flexible RG-58a/u. The PL-259 connector is made with a bakelite-type insulating material that is not appropriate for UFH-and-beyond frequencies but is fine for HF (3-30MHz) frequencies.

The magnet is very strong and that could be a bad thing. Due to round smooth shape there is no good holding for your hand when you try to remove it from the roof of your car. For holding up big antenna this magnet mount wouldn’t break a sweat.     • Great starter mount

This mount does what it needs to: Hold the antenna onto the vehicle. It does what it's supposed to. Mounted this on a 2011 Dodge Caliber paired to a Uniden 505 and a 2' Firestick. 80+ MPH and it doesn't come off. Was able to get a SWR of about 1.1 across all channels- more a function of the radio and antennae, but the mount helps. The mount gave me enough cable to work with to run it through the hatch and all the way up front with some to spare. Overall, I'm happy with it for a starter mount. I'll probably be getting a bigger mount for a longer antennae in the future, but for the price, this one works great! ... show more

    • Could do with locking grub screw on installed whip.

Solid mount, used for mini shark hamsticks. Could do with a lock nut or grub screw to capture the whip element you screw in. My intention is to change whips for different bands used. So do not want to overtighten or damage the threads. Had one whip rattle loose while driving, pulled over and could tighten it again. For my purposes fine unit at decent price. ... show more

I occasionally use this mount with a Gabil GR-7350TC antenna. The large magnet holds well and provides good coupling to the car. In the interest of full disclosure, I don't leave the mount on the car, so I can't comment on how well it would hold up continuously exposed to the weather.

    • Fit great, but didn't stay on car with three foot antenna

It fit great as with length of cord and fitting hole, but the strength of the magnet wasn't enough to hold a spring and three foot antenna. Lucky for me, no damage to the antenna occurred. Perhaps the antenna was to big for it, but it shouldn't have been.
