I had to replace a "Columbia Ascender" that was purloined recently. The jackets are nearly identical in all aspects. What I rate better with the "Trailside Softshell" are the taller, softer collar, better cuffs, and softer, less stiff feel overall. This jacket is an awesome value. Very similar to brand names that cost 2-3x more. Unfortunately, size L was too big, so I also ordered a M as a replacement. The overall fit of the M was too tight in the chest but good otherwise. The L was overall bigger and more comfortable, but the diameter of the sleeves was twice that of the size M, they were ridiculously baggy. So neither size worked for me but the jacket is an awesome value if it fits you. ... show more
