Very nice adapter. Installation was as simple as plugging it into the PC and connecting the devices through Windows settings. Note I didn't need to even install a driver or any third party software to use the adapter, it was taken care of automatically by Windows. Works automagically under linux (PopOS in this case), better range than the thumbnail-sized adapter I was using. Using the teeny adapter my earbuds would cut out if I went to another room w/o direct LoS. With this adapter I get a perfect connection anywhere in a 2100sf house. Still not enough range to cover the whole yard, sadly, but definitely better. I was skeptical when shopping as a *lot* of these kind of things are bogus (a big "antenna" that's not even electrically connected, just plastic, for looks to fool buyers, and a standard tiny mini-pcb adapter)...but this one delivers. I didn't take it apart, but the performance difference is very obvious. Addendum: to get the best results, I put a simple metal plate (initially just aluminum foil, but later an old gray gov-issue bookend that was literally from the Apollo program, lol) behind the antenna; that greatly increases the signal strength in front of the plate (normal to the surface of the plate..behind the plate signal is basically gone), since the pc was at one end of my desired coverage area.That's an old antenna design trick; it effectively doubles the size of the antenna but only opposite the plate. Literally 2 minutes after receiving this package I now have bluetooth on my desktop computer. I plugged it in one of the rear usb ports and it basically installed itself, paired it to my phone and now I can easily transfer files between the phone and the computer. I'm running WIN 10 so it already had the compatible drivers it needed. It transfers files faster than on my laptop with built it BT so latency is reduced. It is small, with an antenna that is capable of reaching further than most bluetooth devices. It seems to be built pretty tough considering it is a dongle. Just how rough can one get with a usb device? I'm so happy that making my my desktop bluetooth capable was so easy and inexpensive. ... show more

Plug and play, almost. Luckily my work PC allowed it do auto load the driver. However it might be a bit of guesswork to configure the correct audio source. I am using this with a Plantronic Focus headset and Teams. At first it would not connect me to audio correctly. I had to confirm my defaults in both Teams and Zoom to make sure they both were correct. Once that was solved, I like the extended range it gave me. No longer tied to within 10ft of my desk. I am SO happy with this transceiver! I bought it because my Dell Laptop's built-in bluetooth was having trouble getting enough signal when I walked out of the room (just a regular sized home office). I would start getting drop-outs even just 15-20 feet away, with almost line-of sight (the corner of a doorway might just barely be in the way). After installing this TP-Link Bluetooth transceiver, I can walk anywhere inside my home without any dropouts at all. In fact, I was able to walk all the way around the OUTSIDE of my house, and I only had one small and brief drop-out at the very furthest corner of the outside of the house. Installing the driver was no problem - even though I have Win 11 I went ahead and downloaded the official driver from TP Link download site and it installed no problem. The instruction manual says to disable all existing bluetooth devices, but you may only need to disable the existing Wireless Bluetooth controller. You do need to reconnect your bluetooth devices, which may end up creating a second copy of the device, but that should be ok since you will likely keep the existing controller device disabled. The manual also says that it should be plugged into the computer "directly" but after installing and testing my devices, I switched the transceiver to a bluetooth hub and it worked fine. So now it's hidden away and I have incredible range! Best purchase I've made in a long time. ... show more

Still plug-and-play under Linux. I purchased this for a project involving Bluetooth connections to a radio, but it turns out the device has a Bluetooth UUID whitelist and the manufacturer basically individually whitelists Bluetooth OUIs for use as "valid headsets". This adapter cannot change its own OUI/UUID. This means that this adapter will not work for my project, but the audio quality is still good if you don't need that. ... show more
